Roundup: Desert Pines advances in Mountain Region
Evelin Beltran and Carolina Acero finished 3-0 in doubles Tuesday to lead the Desert Pines girls tennis team to a 12-6 road win over Bonanza in the Mountain Region tournament.
Desert Pines (9-6) plays at Centennial (11-2) in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rachel Wurmbrand was 3-0 in singles to lead the Bengals (9-6).
Arbor View 15, Cimarron-Memorial 3 — At Arbor View, Katie Whalen and Makena Haugh went 3-0 in doubles as the Aggies easily handled the Spartans in the Mountain Region tournament.
Charlene Maupin and Marta Suardiaz-Samaniego each went 3-0 in singles for Arbor View (11-4), which plays at Shadow Ridge (9-4) in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Cimarron finished 5-9.
Legacy 12, Eldorado 4 — At Legacy, the Longhorns topped the Sundevils in the Mountain Region tournament.
Legacy (5-11) plays at Faith Lutheran (18-2) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in a quarterfinal.
Eldorado finished 6-12.
Desert Region
Spring Valley 10, Durango 9 — At Spring Valley, the Grizzlies swept the singles sets and edged the Trailblazers on a tiebrekaer in the Desert Region tournament.
Nicole Attallah, Seda Sangsyan and Jennifer each went 3-0 for Spring Valley (5-8), which won 4-2 on the tiebreaker.
The Grizzlies play at Coronado (12-0) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in a quarterfinal.
The doubles teams of Matti Concannon and Maggi Concannon, and Caelidh Borda and Amelie May each went 3-0 for Durango (4-12).
Desert Oasis 13, Basic 5 — At Desert Oasis, the Diamondbacks swept the singles sets to beat the Wolves in the Desert Region tournament.
Raquel Roshak, McKenna DeMarce and Natalia Damian each went 3-0 in singles for Desert Oasis (7-6).
The Diamondbacks will travel to Clark (10-2) for a quarterfinal at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Jazelle Lampkin and Olivia Lampkin went 2-0 in doubles for Basic (6-9).
Liberty 12, Silverado 6 — At Liberty, Anna Pfarrer went 3-0 in singles as the Patriots doubled up the Skyhawks in the Desert Region tournament.
Liberty (5-8) plays at Bishop Gorman (12-2) in a quarterfinal at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Silverado finished 3-12.
Class 3A Southern Region
Valley 13, Del Sol 5 — At Valley, Mirca Hernandez-Carmona and Julia Vargas went 2-0 in doubles to lead the Vikings over the Dragons in the Class 3A Southern Region tournament.
Valley improved to 11-4, and will travel to Boulder City (15-1) at 3 p.m. on Thursday for a semifinal.
Angel Hodges and KatieRae Patriquin went 2-1 in doubles for the Dragons (6-7).
