ROUNDUP: Popowcer, Gibbons 3-0 as Cougars topple Green Valley girls
Ilyssa Popowcer and Liz Gibbons went 3-0 in doubles Tuesday to help Coronado’s girls to an 11-7 win over host Green Valley, knocking the Gators out of first place in the Southeast League.
Casey Thevenot and Paige Nisson were 2-0 in doubles for the Cougars.
Jessica Hsu was 3-0 in singles for the Gators.
Both teams are 4-1 in league play. Silverado took over sole possession of first place at 4-0.
Silverado 12, Basic 6 — At Basic, Ashley Newell, Kristen Santero and Nicole Santero each finished 3-0 in singles to lead the Skyhawks over the Wolves.
Basic’s Megan Feher and Jenilee Medina finished 2-0 in doubles.
Liberty 13, Boulder City 5 — At Liberty, Eunice Zhao and Riki Aquino went 2-0 in doubles as the Patriots beat the Falcons.
Tech 14, Foothill 4 — At Foothill, Marlai Sai went 3-0 in singles to help the Roadrunners defeat the Falcons.
Las Vegas 10, Canyon Springs 8 — At Canyon Springs, the doubles team of Cami Fish and Alyssa D’Agostino went 3-0 as the Wildcats beat the Pioneers.
Val Shively was 2-1 in singles for Las Vegas.
Rebecca Breland went 3-0 in singles for Canyon Springs.
Rancho 11, Desert Pines 7 — At Desert Pines, Mariah Coleman went 3-0 in singles to help the Rams beat the Jaguars.
The doubles team of Kristen Neubauer and Abony Moore went 3-0 for Rancho.
Moapa Valley 10, Chaparral 8 — At Chaparral, Alyssa O’Toole and Anelle Gollohan finished 3-0 in doubles as the Pirates defeated the Cowboys.
Chaparral’s Kelly Terry and Sara Andersen each went 3-0 in singles.
Eldorado 11, Valley 7 — At Eldorado, Rochelle Casino and Christina Herrera each finished 3-0 in singles to lead the Sundevils to a victory over the Vikings.
The doubles teams of Gabriella Kinney and Dyana Sanchez, and Maria Guanlao and Bryanna Gabrillo each finished 2-1 for Eldorado.
Valley’s Jenna Beaudry and Angel Ordiway went 3-0 in doubles.
Bishop Gorman 13, Bonanza 5 — At Darling Tennis Center, Blair Bigelow and Caroline Engs went 2-0 in doubles to lead the Gaels past the Bengals.
Samantha Niemand and Chelsea Chappell went 2-1 in doubles for Bonanza.
Desert Oasis 15, Western 3 — At Western, Danica Ingwaldson was 2-0 in singles as the Diamondbacks beat the Warriors.
Lauren Lightfoot was 1-0 in singles for Desert Oasis.
Western’s Megan Rocheford was 1-1 in singles.
Durango 10, Clark 9 — At Durango, Jamie Dean and Kaitlyn Moore finished 3-0 in doubles as the Trailblazers defeated the Chargers in a tiebreaker.
Clark’s Natasha James was 3-0 in singles.
Spring Valley 10, Sierra Vista 8 — At Spring Valley, Jennifer Hewitt and Leimmi Shang went 3-0 in doubles to lead the Grizzlies.
Claire Brantley and Sierra Weyer each went 2-1 in singles for Spring Valley.
Palo Verde 15, Arbor View 3 — At Palo Verde, Shelby Zepeda and Nikki Levy went 3-0 in doubles as the Panthers rolled.
Palo Verde’s Sarah Alamshaw and Chelsey Koktavy each went 2-0 in singles.
Centennial 15, Mojave 3 — At Mojave, Taylor Englert and Nicole Moore each went 2-0 in singles to help the Bulldogs down Mojave.
Mojave’s Nicole Santiwan and Kristen Bachman were 3-0 in doubles.
Shadow Ridge 10, Legacy 9 — At Legacy, Deb Hogue and Emylia Terry went 3-0 in doubles, and Jamie Andrade was 2-1 in singles as the Mustangs beat the Longhorns in a tiebreaker.
Legacy’s Breanna Watkins went 3-0 in singles, and the doubles team of Chelsea Gibbs and Dani White went 2-1 for the Longhorns.
Faith Lutheran 10, Cimarron-Memorial 8 — At Faith Lutheran, Aubrey Astle and Renee Vogel teamed to go 3-0 in doubles and lead the Crusaders past the Spartans.
Kate Johnesee went 3-0 in singles for Cimarron.
