TENNIS: Lopez, Skyhawks edge Falcons’ girls in tiebreaker

Megan Lopez went 3-0 in singles Tuesday, and Silverado’s girls tennis team won four of six tiebreaker games to nip visiting Foothill in a Sunrise Region quarterfinal.

Criszelle Castro and Lyric Ciarlo each went 2-1 in singles, and Jenna Wyson and Samantha Arteaga were 2-1 in doubles for the Skyhawks (8-3), who will visit Green Valley (12-0) in a region semifinal at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Madison Topham and Morgan Hawkins were 3-0 in doubles for the Falcons (6-6). Lilly Nettles was 2-1 in singles, and the doubles teams of Emily Campbell and Caitlyn Stevenson, and Hannah Stevens and Rachael Wojtkowiak each went 2-1 for Foothill.

Green Valley 17, Las Vegas 1 — At Green Valley, Megan Madrid was 3-0 in singles as the Gators rolled past the Wildcats (3-8).

Elle Johnsong and Olivia Nhaisi teamed to go 2-0 in doubles for Green Valley.

Coronado 10, Valley 8 — At Coronado, Samantha Smith and Lauren Coons each went 2-0 in singles to help the Cougars edge the Vikings.

Coronado (9-3) will visit Liberty (11-1) in a region semifinal at 3 p.m. Thursday.

The doubles teams of Megan Jones and Olivia Jensen, and Brooke Arita-Zamora and Katherine Streit both went 2-1 for Valley (3-9).

Liberty 17, Basic 1 — At Liberty, Parker Burk, Payton Burk and Megan Quandt all went 3-0 in singles to help the Patriots top the Wolves (3-10).

SUNSET REGION

Arbor View 12, Durango 6 — At Arbor View, Devin Diesko and Catherine Arizmendez each went 3-0 in singles to lead the Aggies (9-2) past the Trailblazers (4-10) in a Sunset Region quarterfinal.

Chaise Sandoval and Nicolette D’Arienzo went 3-0 for Arbor View, which will visit Palo Verde (12-0) in a region semifinal at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Brittany Gomez and Gabrielle Leynes went 2-1 in doubles to lead Durango.

Palo Verde 17, Desert Oasis 1 — At Palo Verde, Annie Walker, Kristen Newell and Abby Lewis each went 2-0 in singles as the Panthers routed the Diamondbacks (4-7).

The doubles teams of Michaela Jackson and Alissa Till, and Kayla Fischer and Isabella Shelton each went 2-0 for Palo Verde.

Bonanza 16, Legacy 2 — At Bonanza, the doubles teams of Phoebe Nelson and Shally Matlovic, Lake Luther and Ashlee McKenna, and Abby Lords and Caroline Thuet all went 3-0 to help the Bengals cruise past the Longhorns (3-8).

Lauren Smith was 2-0 in singles for Bonanza (13-1), which will host Bishop Gorman (7-2) in a region semifinal at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Bishop Gorman 16, Centennial 2 — At Gorman, Lauren Willmore and Amanda Adolfo each went 2-0 in singles as the Gaels downed the Bulldogs (5-7).

DIVISION I-A SOUTHERN REGION

Boulder City 10, Sierra Vista 8 — At Boulder City, the doubles teams of Kyra Yamamoto and McKenna Frazier, and Sariah Gneiting and Iris Meijer both went 3-0 as the Eagles edged the Mountain Lions in a Southern Region quarterfinal.

Melissa O’Berto was 2-1 in singles for Boulder City (9-1), which will host The Meadows (11-2) in a region semifinal at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Averiana Mitchell was 3-0 in singles, and Janae Newton was 2-1 in singles for Sierra Vista (5-6).

The Meadows 18, Tech 0 — At The Meadows, Erika Reiter was 3-0 in singles to lead the Mustangs by the Roadrunners (6-4).

Clark 13, Desert Pines 5 — At Desert Pines, Paige Smith was 3-0 in singles to lead the Chargers by the Jaguars (11-2).

Connie Shen and Elissa Gray went 2-0 in doubles for Clark (10-2) which will visit Faith Lutheran (13-1) in a region semifinal at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Faith Lutheran 16, Moapa Valley 2 — At Darling Tennis Center, Talia Graf and Kristina Berg were 3-0 in doubles to guide the Crusaders by the Pirates (5-5).

Terrah Miurah, Jade Lee and Paige Erlanger each went 1-0 in singles for Faith Lutheran.

BOYS

Liberty 12, Basic 6 — At Liberty, the doubles teams of Al Gourrier and Kevin Bloomquist, and Tristan Hoyle and Sarem Khilij each went 3-0 as the Patriots (11-1) topped the Wolves (6-7) in a Sunrise Region quarterfinal.

Liberty will host Foothill (7-5) in a region semifinal at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
