TENNIS: Palo Verde girls rout Gorman in rematch of state final
Chloe Henderson and Kristen Newell each went 3-0 in singles, and Palo Verde’s girls tennis team swept the nine doubles sets Friday en route to a 17-1 win over visiting Bishop Gorman in a rematch of last year’s Division I state final.
The Panthers’ doubles teams of Tia Okano and Isabella Shelton, Sophie Henderson and Abby Lewis, and Michaela Jackson and Alissa Till all went 3-0.
Faith Lutheran 10, The Meadows 9 — At Darling Tennis Center, Kathleen Wright went 3-0 in singles, and the Crusaders rallied from a 7-5 deficit after two rounds to edge the Mustangs in a tiebreaker.
After the teams split their 18 regulation sets, they also split the six tiebreaker games, but the Crusaders outscored the Mustangs, 32-30 during the tiebreakers to win the rematch of last year’s Division I-A state final.
Madison Foley was 2-1 in singles, and Talia Graf and Kristina Berg went 2-1 in doubles for Faith Luttheran.
Anuja Daulat was 2-1 in singles, and Samantha Gondy and Shalini Shah went 2-1 doubles for The Meadows.
Centennial 10, Desert Oasis 9 — At Desert Oasis, Madison Dobbs and Cassandra Haskin went 2-1 in doubles, and the Bulldogs won four of six tiebreaker games to nip the Diamondbacks.
Stefanie Parlade was 3-0 in singles for Desert Oasis.
Bonanza 11, Coronado 7 — At Bonanza, Lauren Smith went 3-0 in singles to help the Bengals knock off the Cougars.
The doubles teams of Phoebe Nelson and Shally Matlovic, and Ashlee McKenna and Lake Luther each went 2-1 for Bonanza.
Nikoletta Nikoloff was 2-0 in singles for Coronado.
Silverado 10, Valley 8 — At Silverado, Megan Lopez was 3-0 in singles to lift the Skyhawks by the Vikings.
Criszelle Castro went 2-0 in singles, and Jenna Wyson and Samantha Arteaga were 2-0 in doubles for Silverado.
Brooke Arita-Zamora went 2-1 in singles for Valley.
Durango 11, Legacy 7 — At Legacy, Anne Jiang and Sonia Tamara each went 3-0 in singles to lead the Trailblazers past the Patriots.
Gabrielle Leynes and Brittany Gomez went 3-0 in doubles for Durango.
Legacy’s Ananya Chauhan and Avi’Ana Shelton went 2-1 in doubles.
Arbor View 12, Cimarron-Memorial 6 — At Arbor View, Devin Diesko and Catherine Arizmendez each went 3-0 in singles to help the Aggies top the Spartans.
Makenna Osborne and Lovely Tugadi were 3-0 in doubles for Cimarron.
Mojave 14, Spring Valley 4 — At Mojave, Beanca Liriano and Eva Sampson each went 3-0 in singles to help the Rattlers top the Grizzlies.
The doubles teams of Vanessa Aguilar and Miranda Sanders, and Madison Lemaire and Sharrah Kenyon each went 3-0 for Mojave.
Las Vegas 14, Canyon Springs 4 — At Canyon Springs, Karla Torrez went 3-0 in singles to lead the Wildcats by the Pioneers.
Skye Brower and Jocelyn Leyva were 2-0 in doubles, and Jana Espares was 2-1 in singles for Las Vegas.
Abigail Emperado went 2-1 in singles for Canyon Springs.
Clark 12, Adelson School 0 — At Clark, the Chargers won by forfeit.
Cheyenne 12, Western 0 — At Western, the Desert Shields won by forfeit.

Matt Shuirman and Brandon Brighi were 2-0 in doubles for Faith Lutheran.
Palo Verde 12, Bishop Gorman 6 — At Palo Verde, Rhett Bossung was 3-0 in singles, and Teijiro Nishimura and Kota Cook went 3-0 in doubles to lead the Panthers by the Gaels.
Aaron Bailey was 2-1 in singles for Bishop Gorman.
Legacy 11, Durango 7 — At Legacy, Diego Portillo and Devin Garrett went 3-0 in doubles to lead the Patriots past the Trailblazers.
Brayden Snyder and Alex Gadd went 2-0 in doubles for Legacy.
Nikola Zelenovic and Marc Viernes each went 3-0 in singles for Durango.

The doubles teams of Travis Norland and Dustin Leavitt, and Ashton Arizmendez and Lucas Cordova each went 3-0 for Arbor View.
Valley 15, Silverado 3 — At Valley, Marty Heavey and James Larson each went 3-0 in singles as the Vikings topped the Skyhawks.
Chase Fayeghi and Alex Gustilo were 3-0 in doubles for Valley. Jeremiah Williams went 2-0 in singles, and Kenneth Huynh and Jose Negrete were 2-0 in doubles for the Vikings.
