Outlook: Akbar is the defending Class 2A state champion in the shot put.

Cook finished second in the 3,200-meter run and fourth in the 1,600 at the state meet.

They’re among eight returning lettermen for the Mustangs.

“We have a small team but should be very competitive in our individual events,” Gray said.
