Boys roundup: Jalen Nailor leads Gorman boys to tri-meet win
Jalen Nailor won two individual events and ran on a winning relay team Tuesday to help host Bishop Gorman’s boys track team defeat Clark and Calvary Chapel.
Nailor won the 100-meter dash in 10.76 seconds, the 200 in 21.66 and ran on the winning 400 relay team.
The Gaels’ Jake Phillips won the 110 hurdles (15.7) and the 300 hurdles (41.68).
Gorman finished with 137 points. Clark was second with 22, and Calvary Chapel had 11.
Clark’s Liam Jones won the 1,600 in 4:38.81 and the 3,200 in 10:13.24.
Sierra Vista downs Desert Oasis
At Sierra Vista, Devin Brice and Devon Faison each won two field events to help the Mountain Lions to an 84-48 victory over Desert Oasis.
Brice cleared 5 feet, 6 inches to win the high jump and won the long jump with a mark of 19-2½. Faison threw 129-2 to win the discus and took the shot put with an effort of 47-11.
Sierra Vista’s Seth Carey won the 100 in 11.24, was second in the long jump and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team.
Desert Oasis’ Jackson Mainguy won the 300 hurdles in 44.38 and was second in the 110 hurdles.
Canyon Springs beats Rancho
At Canyon Springs, Isaiah Hayden won three individual events to lead to Pioneers over Rancho.
Hayden took home victories in the 100 (10.5), 200 (22.3) and long jump (20-3).
Jayvion Pugh won the 110 hurdles for the Pioneers in 15.9, and the 300 hurdles in 43.0, helping the Pioneers to 73 team points. Rancho had 30.
Nicholas Howe won the discus (110-1) for Rancho’s lone victory.
Bourke helps Aggies to victory
At Arbor View, Chance Bourke won three individual events to help the Aggies defeat Palo Verde and Spring Mountain.
Bourke cleared 6-0 to win the high jump, won the long jump with a mark of 21-1¼ and took the triple jump with an effort of 37-11.
Palo Verde’s Brad Jacobson threw 119-5 to win the discus and was first in the shot put with a mark of 39-0.
Spring Mountain’s Tyrese Traylor won the 110 hurdles (16.6) and 300 hurdles (44.4).
Arbor View finished with 92 points. Palo Verde was second with 65½, and Spring Mountain was third with 25½.
Faith Lutheran defeats Shadow Ridge
At Shadow Ridge, Sever Stewart swept the hurdle events to lead Faith Lutheran to an 88-57 win over the Mustangs.
Stewart won the 110 hurdles in 15.1 and the 300 hurdles in 41.3.
Faith Lutheran’s Austin Hunter won the 100 in 10.6, and teammate Brian Dunn took the 200 in 22.7. Both ran on the Crusaders’ winning 400 relay team.
Shadow Ridge’s Damian Smith won the 800 in 2:01.6 and ran on the winning 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams.
