BOYS TRACK: Distance duo leads Panthers to win

Nicholas Jacobsen and Sawyer Epstein took the top two places in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs Wednesday to help host Palo Verde’s boys track team to victory in a three-team meet.

Jacobsen won the 800 in 2 minutes, 1.79 seconds and won the 1,600 in 4:36.51 with teammate Epstein finishing second in each.

Tre’von Washington also won two events for the Panthers, taking the triple jump with an effort of 39 feet, 3 inches and the high jump with a mark of 5-8.

Palo Verde scored 98 points. Shadow Ridge was second with 54, and Spring Mountain had 34.

Spring Mountain’s O’Shea Jones swept the hurdles, winning the 110 highs in 18.36 and the 300 lows in 43.52.

Gaels top Desert Oasis

At Bishop Gorman, Nikolas Bracken won two events and finished third in another to lead the Gaels to a 92-53 win over Desert Oasis.

Bracken won the 100 (11.49) and long jump (22-4) and was third in the 200.

Pierson Mook swept the hurdles for Gorman, taking the 110 highs in 16.19 and the 300 lows in 42.5.

Trevor Henry won the 200 (22.25) and 400 (49.09) for the Gaels, and teammate Haskell Garrett was first in the discus (161-9) and shot put (45-1).

Desert Oasis’ Zach Wood won the 800 (2:06.09) and 1,600 (4:45.02).

Mountain Lions win five-team meet

At Boulder City, Erik Killgore won two events to lead Sierra Vista to victory in a five-team meet.

Killgore was first in the discus (103-5) and shot put (42-11¼).

The Mountain Lions also swept the relays to finish with 150 points. Del Sol was second at 106½, followed by Boulder City (62), Laughlin (32½) and Beatty (17).

Del Sol’s Taaric Flowers won the long jump (19-8), 100 (11.14) and 200 (22.91).

Laughlin’s Jonathan Johnson was first in the 1,600 (5:06.85) and 3,200 (11:02.13).

Silverado defeats Las Vegas

At Silverado, Bryan Espino won two individual events to help the Skyhawks to an 81-52 win over Las Vegas.

Espino won the 800 in 2:00 and took the 1,600 in 4:42.

Las Vegas’ Tre James won the 100 (10.1) and 200 (21.2).
