Desert Oasis sweeps Western Invitational titles
Isaiah Scoville had three top-two finishes in individual events Saturday at Western to help the Desert Oasis boys track team to victory in the Western Invitational.
Scoville won the 400-meter dash in 50.96 seconds and took second place in both the 100 and 200.
Desert Oasis finished with 108½ points to lead the 16-team field. Mojave was second with 91. Desert Pines (79), Western (58) and Durango (56) rounded out the top five.
Bishop Gorman’s Kylen Ulrey was the only male athlete to win two individual events, taking the discus with a throw of 132 feet, 7 inches and the shot put with an effort of 46-0.
Cheyenne’s Jaime Chavez won the 1,600 in 4:47.9 and was second in the 800.
Desert Pines’ Jamel Brown won the 300 hurdles in 40.53 and took second in the 110 hurdles.
Del Sol’s Jaylen Flenaugh won the 100 hurdles in 16.06 and placed second in the 300 hurdles.
Canyon Springs’ Isaiah Hayden was victorious in the 100 in 11.29 and finished second in the long jump.
In the girls meet, Erin Gibson won the 400 in 1:00.39 and ran on the winning 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams to help Desert Oasis complete a sweep of the team titles.
The Diamondbacks’ Jadynn Glover and Aayzia Dumas both ran on the winning 400, 800 and 1,600 realy teams as Desert Oasis won all four relays.
The Diamondbacks’ finished with 130 points. Eldorado was second with 96, followed by Mojave (89), Spring Valley (65) and Sunrise Mountain (55).
Eldorado’s Mohn’Ai Roberson won the triple jump (34-7) and 100 hurdles (16.08) and was second in the long jump, and teammate LaDavia Pierson won the 100 (12.71) and 200 (25.94).
Sunrise Mountain’s Kapua Pulotu won the shot put (37-10½) and was second in the discus.
Mojave’s Jasmine Kaufman won the discus (119-0) and was second in the shot put, and teammate Anahi Rosales won the 1,600 in 5:54.42 and took second in the 3,200.
Del Sol’s CharLeyanse Howard was first in the high jump (5-0) and second in the 100.
