ROUNDUP: Jackson wins three events as Silverado takes Sunrise Frosh/Soph title
Ladale Jackson won three events and Dante Carter won two events Friday to lead the Silverado boys track and field team to the Sunrise Region Freshman/Sophomore Championships title at Del Sol.
Jackson took the 100-meter dash (11.41 seconds), 200 (22.67) and 400 (49.92), and Carter won the 1,600 (4:41.02) and 3,200 (10:20.23).
In team scoring, Silverado won with 94 points, followed by Basic (91½) and Del Sol (58).
Harris, Stearns, Cody win two events each
At Arbor View, Palo Verde’s Quinn Harris, Pahrump Valley’s Nick Stearns and Centennial’s Jared Cody won two events each at the Sunset Region Freshman/Sophomore Championships.
Team scoring was not available.
Harris took the long jump (21 feet, 10 inches) and triple jump (42-4¼), Stearns the 110 hurdles (15.9) and pole vault (12-1) and Cody the shot put (44-10¾) and discus (120-2).
GIRLS
Melton takes three events
At Del Sol, Las Vegas’ Breanna Melton won three events at the Sunrise Region Freshman/Sophomore Championships.
Melton took the 100 (13.62), 100 hurdles (17.03) and 300 hurdles (48.6).
Canyon Springs’ Jamila Pullum won the 200 (27.43) and 400 (59.83), and Valley’s Anne Underwood took the 800 (2:29.89) and 1,600 (5:43.79).
In team scoring, Coronado won with 84½ points, followed by Green Valley (71½) and Liberty (69).
Six athletes win two events apiece
At Arbor View, six athletes won two events each at the Sunset Region Freshman/Sophomore Championships.
Legacy’s Darriel Banks won the 100 (12.5) and 200 (25.8); Cheyenne’s J’Myah White the 400 (58.9) and 800 (2:27.5); Arbor View’s Candice McFarland the 100 hurdles (14.8) and 300 hurdles (45.3); Centennial’s Karli Johonnot the high jump (5-0) and pole vault (9-3); Faith Lutheran’s Krystal Onyema the long jump (16-6¾) and triple jump (34-8); and Legacy’s Avione Allgood the shot put (39-2½) and discus (125-9).
