ROUNDUP: Perez, Counts lift Cheyenne boys to tri-meet win

David Perez and Kenneth Counts won two events apiece to lead Cheyenne’s boys track and field team to victory in a three-team home meet Tuesday.

Cheyenne won with 100 points, followed by Legacy (40) and Agassi Prep (2).

Perez won the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 14 seconds and the 3,200 in 12:07.

Counts took the 110 hurdles in 16.2 seconds and the triple jump at 38 feet, 6 inches.

Cody, Centennial cruise
At Mojave, Jerod Cody won the shot put and discus to lead Centennial to 115 1/2 points and the victory in a three-team meet.

Cody took the shot put with a mark of 49-8½, and won the discus with a throw of 138-10.

Faith Lutheran finished second with 44 ½ points, and Mojave had 17.

Faith Lutheran’s Mark Rubalcaba won the high jump (5-10), long jump (19-3) and triple jump (37-10).

Depth leads Dragons past Skyhawks
At Silverado, Del Sol won 11 events on its way to a 73-60 victory over the Skyhawks.

Chris Marshall won the triple jump (41-10) and was second in the long jump (18-8¾) for the Dragons.

GIRLS

Mathews, Skyhawks top Dragons
At Silverado, Aliyah Mathews won two events to lift Silverado to an 86-21 victory over Del Sol.

Mathews took the 100 in 12.5 seconds and the 200 in 25.3.

Richard, Bonds pace Bulldogs
At Mojave, LaTangie Richard and Tiana Bonds each won two events to lead Centennial to victory with 100 points.

Faith Lutheran (68) was second, and Mojave (1) third.

Richard won the 200 (25.4) and long jump (17-5), and Bonds won the 100 hurdles (14.4) and 300 hurdles (44.9).

Faith Lutheran’s Jesssica Forage won the shot put (33-6) and discus (94-5).

Gray leads Desert Shields to victory
At Cheyenne, Jasper Gray won three events to propel the Desert Shields to 53 points and a victory over Legacy (50) and Agassi Prep (1).

Gray took the 200 in 26.4, the high jump at 4-10 and the long jump at 16-2.

Legacy’s Avione Allgood won the shot put at 40-8 and the discus at 128-7.
