ROUNDUP: Schultz, Kapeli power Patriot boys to tri-meet victory
Colin Schultz and Jordan Kapeli each won two events Wednesday to lead Liberty’s boys track team to a home win over Las Vegas and Boulder City.
Schultz won the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 48.1 seconds, and took the 3,200 in 11:03.4. Kapeli won the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 3 inches, and the discus with a mark of 131-8.
Liberty finished with 76 points, followed by Las Vegas (71) and Boulder City (39).
The Wildcats’ Royce Gonzaque won the 110 hurdles in 17.5 and the 300 hurdles in 43.7.
The Eagles’ Michael Kelso took the long jump (19-5) and triple jump (40-2).
Karst, Espino help Centennial edge Arbor View
At Arbor View, Jordan Karst and George Espino each won one event and placed second in another to help Centennial to a first-place finish with 109½ points in a four-team meet.
Arbor View was second with 104½ points, followed by Cheyenne (48) and Spring Mountain (9).
Karst won the shot put (47-0) and was second in the discus (120-1) for the Bulldogs, and teammate Espino was first in the 3,200 (10:24.18) and second in the 1,600 (4:37.61).
Matlock, Glanz pace Panthers
At Legacy, Nahjee Matlock and Michael Glanz each won two events to lead Palo Verde (111) past Moapa Valley (105) and Legacy (59).
Matlock won the 100 (10.5) and 200 (23.0), and Glanz won the shot put (45-8½) and discus (121-7).

Bonds leads Bulldogs to win
At Arbor View, Tiana Bonds won both hurdle events to lead Centennial to victory in a four-team meet.
Bonds won the 100 hurdles in 15.46, and the 300 hurdles in 48.96 for the Bulldogs, who finished first with 98½ points. Cheyenne was second with 48½, and Arbor View was third with 30.
Cheyenne’s Brittany Jackson swept the throws, taking the shot put with a mark of 35-4 and the discus with a throw of 126-0.
Palo Verde wins four-team meet
At Legacy, Julia Sambvani won the 200 (28.4) and was second in the 100 (13.1) to help Palo Verde win a four-team meet with 118 points.
Legacy was second with 75 points, followed by Moapa Valley (54½) and Indian Springs (16½).
Moapa Valley’s Malary Reid won the 100 hurdles (16.5) and long jump (15-9).
Trio of double winners lead Liberty
At Liberty, Carina Gargantos, Gabrielle Palazzolo and Ashlie Blake each won two events to lead the Patriots to victory in a three-team meet.
Liberty finished with 81½ points to top Boulder City (51) and Las Vegas (48½).
Gargantos won the 100 hurdles (17.7) and 300 hurdles (53.6), Palazzolo won the pole vault (8-6) and triple jump (29-7½), and Blake won the shot put (45-8) and discus (136-11).
Las Vegas’ Creshonda Carter won the 100 (13.3) and 200 (26.3).
Boulder City’s Jessica Tobler was first in the 1,600 (5:54.1) and 3,200 (12:26.9).
