TRACK: Canyon Springs’ Alexander wins three events at Heitkotter Invitational
Canyon Springs’ Bradley Alexander finished first in three individual events Saturday in the Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran.
Alexander swept the hurdle events, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 15.09 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 39.74.
He also tied for first in an unbelievably close 200. Both Alexander and Palo Verde’s Devion Clayton finished in 22.81. Bishop Gorman’s Austin Nobis was third in 22.82, and Shadow Ridge’s Demetrius Erickson was fourth in 22.83.
Centennial easily won the team competition with 150 points. Faith Lutheran was second in the 16-team field with 72 points. Palo Verde took third with 63 and Bishop Gorman was fourth with 60.
Centennial’s Trevor McDonough set a meet record of 13 feet in the pole vault, and teammate Brandan Harley set a meet record of 48.9 in the 400. The Bulldogs also set a meet record of 8:04.68 in the 3,200 relay.
Centennial’s Dajour Braxton won the 1,600 (4:27.21) and was second in the 3,200, and teammate Anyah Nutter won the high jump (6-4) and was second in the 110 hurdles.
Faith Lutheran’s Mark Rubalcaba won two events, easily outdistancing the field in two jumping events. His mark of 46-10 in the triple jump was more than four feet better than his nearest competitor.
Rubalcaba also won the long jump with an meet record of 23-3, almost three feet better than the rest of the field.
Palo Verde’s Noah Landers set a meet record of 9:32.52 in the 3,200.
Boulder City’s Samuel Gomez set a meet record of 163-7 in the discus.
Gators win Liberty Relays
At Liberty, Ian Mack swept the three sprints to help Green Valley win the 11-team Liberty Relays.
The Gators had 129 points. Las Vegas was second with 102. Silverado took third with 90, one point better than Coronado.
Mack won the 100 in 10.58, the 200 in 21.84 and the 400 in 49.96.
Green Valley’s Brady Williams won the discus with an effort of 169-2 and was second in the shot put.
Arbor View’s Quemaree Harris won the high jump (6-2) and triple jump (42-4½).
Silverado’s Cody Hudson swept the hurdle events, winning the 110 hurdles in 15.77 and the 300 hurdles in 39.75.
GIRLS
Alexis Gourrier won the 1,600 and 3,200 and was part of a record-setting 3,200 relay team to lead Centennial to an easy victory in the Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran.
Gourrier won the 1,600 in 5:25.3, the 3,200 in 11:59.25 and was part of the 3,200 relay team that set a meet record of 9:51.45. Gourrier also finished second in the 800 for the Bulldogs, who finished with 178 points.
Faith Lutheran was second with 117½, and Palo Verde was third with 88.
Centennial’s Kiana Sai won the shot put (35-4½) and discus (91-5), and teammate Talie Bonds won the 100 hurdles (15.89) and was third in the 300 hurdles. Lauren Ritter won the pole vault (9-0) and was fifth in the triple jump for the Bulldogs.
Centennial also set a meet record of 49.28 in the 400 relay.
Bishop Gorman’s Vashti Cunningham had a huge day, setting meet records in the high jump (6-2) and long jump (17-8). Cunningham won the high jump by a foot, and would have placed second in the boys high jump.
Faith Lutheran’s Clarissa Maxey set a meet record of 56.72 in the 400 and also won the 200 (24.87).
Green Valley takes Liberty Relays
At Liberty, Eboni Thomas won the triple jump with an effort of 35-3¾ and was third in the long jump to help Green Valley win the 11-team Liberty relays.
The Gators had 114 points to nose out Silverado (107) for first. Coronado was third with 101, and Arbor View took fourth with 80.
Arbor View’s Kasia Lawrynowicz won the 100 (12.52) and 200 (25.28).
Desert Oasis’ Brooke Locey took the 800 (2:28.7) and the 1,600 (5:35.39).
