TRACK: Taylor, Perez lift Bonanza boys to victory

 

Jayveon Taylor and Jacob Perez each won two individual events Tuesday to help Bonanza’s boys track team to an 82-50 win over visiting Cimarron-Memorial.

Taylor won the 100-meter dash in 10.4 seconds and the 200 in 21.3. Perez claimed the 110 hurdles in 16.7 and the 300 hurdles in 44.7.

Cimarron’s Seth Wright and Jaden Massa Longnecke won two events apiece.

Wright took the 800 in 2:04.8 and the 3,200 in 11:48. Longnecke claimed the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 4 inches and won the long jump with an effort of 18-7.

Martinez, Diamondbacks beat Longhorns
At Desert Oasis, Frankie Martinez won the 1,600 (4:55.6) and 3,200 (11:13.6) to lead the Diamondbacks to a 110-66 win over Legacy.

Casey Hughes was first in the 100 (10.5) and 200 (no time) for the Longhorns.

Panthers take three-team meet
At Spring Valley, Jarod Swaffer won the shot put (41-5) and discus (128-2) to help Palo Verde capture a three-team meet.

The Panthers scored 78 points. Spring Valley had 69, and Spring Mountain scored 32.

Spring Valley’s Brant Berglund won the 100 in 11.0 and the 400 in 52.7, and teammate Maacolm Robinson won the 200 (23.4) and high jump (5-6).

Spring Mountain’s Bruce Travis-Collins captured the 110 hurdles in 17.1 and the long jump with an effort of 18-2.

Alfar, Shadow Ridge race to tri-meet victory
At Shadow Ridge, Cody Alfar finished first in the 300 hurdles (43.3) and the long jump (19-10) to propel the Mustangs over Sierra Vista and Agassi Prep.

Shadow Ridge won 15 of the 18 events and had 144 points to breeze past Sierra Vista (27) and Agassi (13).

Jones guides Aggies to win
At Durango, Cole Jones won the 800 in 2:06.4 and the 1,600 in 4:44.3 to help Arbor View win a three-team meet.

The Aggies had 137 points. Durango was second with 41, followed by The Meadows with 5.

Braxton boosts Bulldogs over Gorman

At Centennial, Dajour Braxton was the lone double-winner, helping Centennial to  96-46 victory over Bishop Gorman.

Braxton won the 800 in 2:06.5 and added a victory in the 3,200 (10:24.6).
