Girls roundup: Cherish Ross leads Sierra Vista to victory

Cherish Ross won two individual events and finished second in another Tuesday to help host Sierra Vista’s girls track team defeat Bonanza and Calvary Chapel.

Ross won the 100-meter dash in 12.4 seconds and the long jump with an effort of 16 feet, 9½ inches. She was second in the 200.

Sierra Vista’s Emma Zeigler won the 200 (26.8) and was second in the 100, and teammate Nicole Patai won the discus with a throw of 96-6 and was second in the shot put.

The Mountain Lions finished with 95 points. Bonanza had 66 points, and Calvary Chapel had 1.

Bonanza’s Michelle Troncoso won the 300 hurdles (56.4) and was second in the 100 hurdles. The Bengals’ Maysan Raleigh won the high jump (4-4) and was second in the long jump, and teammate Zowie Manuma won the shot put (32-9) and was second in the discus.

Green Valley defeats Coronado

At Coronado, Sierrah Rivera won the 100 in 12.54 and the 200 in 25.38 to lead Green Valley to a 79-53 win over the Cougars.

Katera Braggs won the shot put (32-9¾) and was second in the discus, and teammate Daejahnae Carter won the discus (95-1) and was second in the shot put for the Gators.

Coronado’s Sophia Hyman won the pole vault (9-9) and was second in the long jump.

Desert Oasis wins three-team meet

At Clark, Aayzia Dumas won the 200 in 25.70 and the 400 in 58.59 to lift Desert Oasis to victory over Spring Valley and Clark.

Damari Martin won the triple jump (32-1) and was second in the long jump for Desert Oasis, which finished with 80½ points. Spring Valley had 61½ points, and Clark had 30.

Spring Valley’s Hermon Mebrahtu won the 1,600 in 5:53.39 and the 3,200 in 13:21.86.

Clark’s Dejana Chapman won the long jump (15-3) and the 300 hurdles (49.04).
