GIRLS TRACK: Heiden, Williams lead Wildcats to win
Cjenna Heiden and Teleda Williams each won two events Wednesday to help Las Vegas’ girls track and field team to a 74-64 victory over host Silverado.
Heiden finished first in the shot put with a mark of 34 feet, 7 inches and also won the discus (105-5). Williams crossed first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.1 seconds and took the 400 in 1:03.0.
Silverado’s Mikayla Kelley was first in the 100 (12.3) and triple jump (37-3). Chase Jenkins also was a double-winner for the Skyhawks, as she placed first in the 800 (2:38.0) and 1,600 (6:36.0).
Diamondbacks defeat Gaels
At Bishop Gorman, Dominique Korschinowski won two individual events to help Desert Oasis to an 81-62 victory over Bishop Gorman.
Korschinowski won the 100 hurdles in 16.94 and also took the 300 hurdles in 48.86.
Elizabeth Jamrozy was the lone double-winner for Gorman, as she was first in the 200 (26.28) and 400 (1:00.62).
Mountain Lions win five-team meet
At Boulder City, Kayla Smith won two events, and Sierra Vista swept the four relays to win a five-team meet.
Smith won the 400 in 1:00.01 and the long jump in 15-7 for the Mountain Lions, who scored 144 points to edge second-place Boulder City (134 points).
Del Sol was third with 65 points, followed by Beatty (18) and Laughlin (5).
Sierra Sellinger won two events for the host Eagles, crossing the line first in the 1,600 (5:43.42) and 3,200 (12:16.46).
Panthers outrun Mustangs
At Palo Verde, Emma Wahlenmaier won two events to help the host Panthers to a 123-22 victory over Shadow Ridge.
Wahlenmaier finished first in the 1,600 in 5:19.27 and also took the 3,200 (11:52.15). Makenzie Barnes won the discus (116-2) and was second in the shot put for Palo Verde.
Hailey Woolworth was the lone winner for Shadow Ridge, as she crossed first in the 100 hurdles (19.23).
