GIRLS TRACK: Leonard wins three events, Crusaders take four-team meet
Casey Leonard won three events Wednesday to lead Faith Lutheran’s girls track team to victory in a four-team home meet.
Leonard won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.87 seconds, and took the 300 hurdles in 51.24. She also cleared 4 feet, 8 inches to capture the high jump for the Crusaders, who finished with 143 points.
Boulder City was second with 77, followed by Chaparral (28) and Clark (13).
Kyrie Lorfing, Nicole Valle and Ohemaa Dixon each won two events for Faith Lutheran. Lorfing was first in the 400 (1:05.63) and triple jump (35-5½), Valle won the discus (86-2) and shot put (28-9½) and Dixon won the long jump (13-11) and pole vault (8-6).
Fields leads Panthers past Gaels
At Bishop Gorman, Jessica Fields won three events to lead Palo Verde to a 104-41 win over the Gaels.
Fields won the 100 (12.78), 100 hurdles (15.02) and 400 (1:01.21).
Makenzie Barnes won the discus (115-0) and shot put (31-4½) for the Panthers, and teammate Natalia Albaran won the 200 (25.24) and was second in the 400.
Gorman’s Taylor Girard won the long jump (16-2¼) and was second in the 200, and Gwenavere Bobowicz won the triple jump (34-1) and was second in the long jump for the Gaels.
