BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Guerrero helps Mojave dig out of early hole, defeat Roadrunners

Mojave’s Lorenzo Guerrero had 40 digs Monday to help the Rattlers to a 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 23-25, 15-12 boys volleyball victory over visiting Tech in a rematch of last year’s Division I-A state final.

Clayton Fontano had 15 kills and eight aces for the Rattlers, and teammate Matt Albinio had 13 kills.

Jovan Carrazco distributed 44 assists for Mojave.

Bonanza 3, Silverado 1 — At Silverado, Andrew Jensen had 18 kills, and Kellen Layne added 14 kills as the Bengals defeated the Skyhawks, 25-18, 26-24, 26-28, 25-20.

Brian Clow added eight kills and eight digs, and teammate Josh Lee had 36 assists for Bonanza.

Austin Hunt led Silverado with 17 kills. Cody Steckle added 28 assists and three aces, and teammate Jeremiah Ward had 12 kills for the Skyhawks.

Rancho 3, Chaparral 1 — At Rancho, Aaron Robles had 25 assists, and Martin Rodriguez had 10 kills to lead the Rams to a 25-12, 25-19, 17-25, 25-16 victory over the Cowboys.

Montef Hargrove added eight kills and two blocks, and Ryan Hafen had seven kills for Rancho.

Pierce Morgan led Chaparral with six kills and four aces. Armando Zarate added five kills, and Josiah Wagge had four kills for the Cowboys.

Liberty 3, Western 0 — At Western, Brandon Baliza had seven kills and two aces to lead the Patriots to a 25-17, 25-13, 25-23 sweep of the Warriors.

Eric Avila added six kills for Liberty. Brycen Ivester had 12 assists, and Ryan Tobias recorded 11 assists for the Patriots.

Manuel Guillermo led Western with eight assists and three aces. Thomas Morris added four kills and two blocks for the Warriors.

Basic 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Auston Farrington had six kills and 16 digs, and Sean Spencer added six kills as the Wolves beat the Desert Shields, 25-10, 25-16, 25-13.

Taylor Dyer had 22 assists, and Austin McDonald had 14 digs for Basic.

Deonte Perkins led Cheyenne with five kills, and teammate Oscar Monzon had seven assists.
