ROUNDUP: Ajuziem helps Valley hold off Desert Pines
Carl Ajuziem had 30 assists, seven kills and six digs Wednesday to lead Valley’s boys volleyball team to a 25-17, 27-29, 25-22, 25-21 win over visiting Desert Pines.
Julio Fierro posted nine kills and Lawrence Palma added eight for the Vikings. Mauricio Molina contributed 13 digs for Valley.
Dominique Lawrence registered 11 kills, and Dalton Leilua dished out 19 assists for the Jaguars.
Las Vegas 3, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, James Joseph and Mika Thrower each posted five kills to help the Wildcats cruise to a 25-13, 25-8, 25-10 sweep of the Cowboys.
Tyler Crawford added five aces and two kills for Las Vegas, and teammate Aldheir Guzman-Diaz contributed 14 assists and four aces.
Rancho 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Rancho, Kamran Baig passed 34 assists to lead the Rams to a 25-10, 25-6, 25-16 sweep of the visiting Miners.
Antonio Boucher had eight kills, and David Silva added seven kills and four blocks for Rancho.
Canyon Springs 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Jon Duhaylungsod had 10 assists and three aces, and Chris Dangaran added 10 digs as the Pioneers swept the Sundevils, 25-16, 25-15, 28-26.
Adam Tuala tallied eight kills and Daniel Hernandez registered five for Canyon Springs.
Bonanza 3, Western 0 — At Bonanza, Dustin Tippetts had14 assists, and Jared Harrington supplied 10 kills as the Bengals swept the Warriors, 25-10, 25-9, 25-14.
Sierra Vista 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Sierra Vista, Cody Seager had 15 kills to lead the Mountain Lions to a 25-15, 25-13, 25-21 win over the Diamondbacks.
Cameron Carlson added six kills for Sierra Vista.
Jayden Stuart led Desert Oasis with four digs.
Bishop Gorman 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Gorman, Cameron Tom registered 40 assists, and Bobby Houser posted 14 kills and four blocks to lead the Gaels past the Grizzlies, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22.
Ben Carter added 12 kills and three blocks for Gorman.
Spring Valley’s Dallas Teshima tallied 23 assists, and Blake Ringer had eight kills and 10 digs for the Grizzlies.
Clark 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, David Samson had 26 assists and four aces, and Matthew Ruedas supplied 10 kills as the Chargers downed the Trailblazers, 28-26, 25-19, 25-20.
Kevin Peterson had eight kills for Durango.
