ROUNDUP: Andrulis, Coronado serve up season-opening win over Clark
Chris Andrulis had 14 kills, three blocks and seven aces Thursday to lift Coronado’s boys volleyball team to a season-opening 25-12, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17 win over visiting Clark.
Jahren Makanoa added seven kills and eight digs for the Cougars, and teammate Byrin Romney had 24 assists and two aces.
Johnny Phane led Clark with eight kills, and George Huang added four kills and two aces for the Chargers.
Bonanza 3, Palo Verde 2 — At Bonanza, Price Jarman had 20 kills, and Cru Leavitt dished out 39 assists as the Bengals nipped the Panthers, 23-25, 25-23, 25-12, 21-25, 15-11.
Parker Evans had 12 kills, and Reed Thuet supplied 31 digs for Bonanza.
Trent Gneiting had 18 kills, Sean Wilson had 25 assists, and Pat Morrison contributed 15 digs for Palo Verde.
Arbor View 3, Sierra Vista 1 — At Sierra Vista, Genaddi Shataev had 18 kills to lead the Aggies past the Mountain Lions, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23.
Richie Garness added 29 assists for Arbor View, and teammate Nicco Buffalino had five assists.
Paolo Lee had 31 assists to lead Sierra Vista, which got 12 kills from Khrumm Fahim and 10 kills from Chayse June.
Del Sol 3, Western 0 — At Western, Nick Maglaras had 25 assists to help the Dragons to a 25-9, 25-19, 25-14 sweep of the Warriors.
Kevin Fitzpatrick had eight kills, and Eric Beil added seven kills, six digs and three aces for Del Sol.
Basic 3, Chaparral 0 — At Basic, John Fitzgerald had 21 assists and six aces as the Wolves blanked the Cowboys, 25-17, 25-9, 25-19.
Tanner Humphreys added nine kills, and Weston Crum supplied six kills for Basic.
Rancho 3, Durango 0 — At Rancho, Nathan Campo had 14 assists, and Guillermo Silva had nine kills to lead the Rams to a 25-14, 25-9, 25-17 sweep of the Trailblazers.
Kyle Stankosky contributed eight digs and six aces for Rancho.
Green Valley 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Green Valley, Beau Gronert had 12 kills and five blocks, and Dimitri Santos added eight kills to help the Gators sweep the Grizzlies, 25-23, 25-11, 25-19.
Wesley Reed contributed five kills and eight blocks for Green Valley.
Blake Ringer led Spring Valley with 10 kills.
Desert Oasis 3, Tech 0 — At Tech, Zach Bobenhausen had 10 kills to lead the Diamondbacks to a 25-22, 25-20, 25-14 win over the Roadrunners.
Trevor Zarzian added 21 assists and four kills for Desert Oasis.
