ROUNDUP: Bonanza holds on at Spring Valley, moves to 2-0 in Southwest
Cru Leavitt dished out 44 assists Thursday to help Bonanza’s volleyball team outlast host Spring Valley, 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 15-10 and improve to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in the Southwest League.
Jared Harrington had 17 kills, and Matt Grubelnik added six blocks for the Bengals.
Dallas Teshima supplied 27 assists, Spenser Blank added 16 digs and Jayvin Garcia contributed 13 kills for Spring Valley.
Bishop Gorman 3, Durango 0 — At Gorman, Cameron Tom had 29 assists as the Gaels rolled to a 25-18, 25-20, 25-17 sweep of the Trailblazers.
Ryan Parks supplied 10 kills and five digs for Gorman, and teammate Cody Wing added 10 digs and two aces.
Jared Parker led Durango with eight kills and four blocks.
Sierra Vista 3, Western 0 — At Western, Cody Seager had 10 kills and two blocks, and Pablo Lee added 10 assists to lead the Mountain Lions past the Warriors, 25-19, 25-8, 25-22.
Kentrell Washington led Western with six blocks and five kills.
Las Vegas 3, Eldorado 0 — At Las Vegas, Luke Hansen had 12 assists and six kills, and Braeden Wilson added nine assists and six kills to power the Wildcats past the Sundevils, 25-8, 25-12, 25-13.
Las Vegas’ Trevor Hardy added eight kills and six digs, and teammate Tyler Crawford contributed five kills and five assists.
Desert Pines 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Desert Pines, Dalton Leilua dished out 29 assists, and Paul Bennett had seven kills to lead the Jaguars to a 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 victory over the Pioneers.
Canyon Springs’ Adrian Snow had 11 kills, and Eric Gutierrez supplied 24 assists for the Pioneers.
Rancho 3, Valley 0 — At Rancho, Antonio Boucher had 16 kills and 10 digs, and Kevin Plascencia added 11 kills and four blocks to lead the Rams to a 25-9, 25-17, 25-21 sweep of the Vikings.
Kamran Baig dished out out 30 assists for Rancho.
Valley’s Carl Ajuziem had 13 assists, and Ignacio Diaz spiked seven kills for the Vikings.
Clark 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Clark, David Samson had 29 assists and two blocks, and George Huang added eight kills and five blocks to lead the Chargers past the Diamondbacks, 25-10, 25-21, 25-13.
Joshuwa Baugus had seven kills, and teammate Marlon Garcia added six kills for Clark.
Chaparral 3, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Cowboys downed the Miners, 25-18, 25-20, 24-26, 25-19.
Philip Fragoso had nine kills and five aces for Sunrise Mountain.
