VOLLEYBALL: Gators rally to top Coronado
James Reed had 22 kills, 11 digs and four aces Thursday to lead Green Valley’s boys volleyball team to a 17-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-14, 15-13 victory over visiting Coronado.
The win left the Gators tied with Foothill atop the Southeast League at 7-1.
Chase Larsen added 12 kills and four digs for Green Valley, and teammate Tyler Dancel had 19 digs.
J.J. Meath led the Cougars with 17 kills. Ryan Garlick added 10 kills for Coronado, which got 48 assists and 15 digs from Justice Balaney-Flores.
Bonanza 3, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, Bronson Duckworth had 21 kills, and Luis Raygoza added 36 assists to help the Bengals defeat the Diamondbacks, 25-11, 21-25, 25-19, 25-20.
Manny Salazar had eight kills, seven blocks and five digs, and teammate Tyler Simmons notched 17 digs for Bonanza.
Billy Cameron led Desert Oasis with 21 kills, four digs and three blocks. Joshua Sadama had 21 assists and six digs, and Tyler Sadama added 10 assists and four digs for the Diamondbacks, who got four kills and three digs from Jacob Dufour.
Foothill 3, Rancho 0 — At Foothill, Shilo Chow had 31 assists, eight digs and two aces to help the Falcons to a 25-22, 25-15, 25-16 sweep of the Rams.
Tyler Jacob had 11 kills and two blocks, and Zachary Thompson added six kills and four blocks for Foothill. Troy Bell had 11 digs for the Falcons.
Lamont Traylor led Rancho with 17 kills, and Douglas Candido added 25 assists for the Rams..
Arbor View 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Arbor View, Treven Clizbe and Brenden Wagner each had 15 kills to help the Aggies to a 25-14, 25-19, 25-20 sweep of the Spartans.
Brenden Gougeon had 26 assists, and Michael Prescia contributed 16 digs for Arbor View, which got four blocks from Andrew Wagner.
Cody Brown had 23 digs for Cimarron. Fred Tito added five kills and five digs, and Utah Mika had four kills for Cimarron.
Basic 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Brad McDonald had 10 kills to guide the Wolves to a 25-18, 25-8, 25-20 sweep of the Sundevils.
Matt Gajeski had 24 assists, and Jacob Fulton added seven blocks for Basic.
Chaparral 3, Word of Life 0 — At Chaparral, Ezequiel Borrero had five kills to lead the Cowboys to a 25-7, 25-13, 25-11 win over the Eagles.
Ever Favela added 10 digs for Chaparral.
Marcos Domato led Word of Life with five kills and three digs.
Tech 3, Del Sol 2 — At Tech, the Roadrunners outlasted the Dragons, 25-13, 20-25, 25-15, 22-25, 15-13.
Anthony Nehme led Del Sol with eight kills and three blocks. Blane Quitog had 20 assists and 14 digs, and Nate Bryan added eight kills and 14 digs for the Dragons.
Sunrise Mountain at Desert Pines — At Desert Pines the match between the Miners and the Jaguars was postponed because of a leaking roof.
A makeup date has not been announced.
