VOLLEYBALL: Mojave sweeps Cheyenne, remains in first place

Juan Valdez provided 32 assists, and Mojave’s boys volleyball team maintained its hold on first place in the Class 3A Southern League with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 win over host Cheyenne on Tuesday.

Antonyo Wright had 16 kills, and Joseph Silva added 15 kills for the Rattlers.

Tyler Buchanan paced the second-place Desert Shields with 18 kills.

Tech 3, Del Sol 2 — At Tech, Collin Faught had 21 assists and two kills to help the Roadrunners rally for a 19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 20-15, 15-12 victory over the Dragons.

Del Sol’s Nathaniel Barton finished with 14 kills and eight blocks to lead Del Sol.

Yerovys Vargas-Gill had 12 kills and two blocks, and Angel Vargas added 12 assists and three blocks for the Dragons.

Western 3, Chaparral 2 — At Western, Anthony Dodson’s 13 kills and four blocks helped the Warriors to a 25-16, 14-25, 14-25, 25-21, 19-17 victory over the Cowboys.

Justin Jones had 20 assists for the Warriors, and Brandon Grajeda had seven kills.

Seam Realica led Chaparral with 26 assists and six aces. Ben Kirschbaum had 14 kills and three aces, and Chris Chavirra added 11 kills and six blocks for the Cowboys.

Eldorado 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Tim Lawson tallied 20 assists, two digs and two blocks, and Adrian Evans notched 15 kills, three aces and three blocks to help the Sundevils best the Pioneers, 27-25, 25-10, 25-21.

Keyunte Schroeder added 14 kills and four blocks for Eldorado.

Las Vegas 3, Valley 0 — At Las Vegas High, Shaun Kampshoff notched 14 assists, seven digs and five kills to power the Wildcats to a 25-13, 25-19, 25-15 sweep of the Vikings.

Kyle Monton added eight digs and five aces for Las Vegas.

Isaac Frazier put down eight kills to pace Valley.

Sierra Vista 3, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, Chris McCoy had 22 kills and three aces, and Ian Albertson had 40 assists and five digs to lead the Mountain Lions to a 23-25, 32-30, 29-27, 25-19 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Frank Hines had 11 kills, and teammate Lerone Gibson added eight kills for Sierra Vista.

Rashawn Dean led Desert Oasis with 14 kills. David Toole and Liam Morrisey each added seven kills and three blocks for the Diamondbacks, and teammate Tyler Sadama had 23 assists and seven digs.

Durango 3, Bonanza 0 — At Bonanza, the Trailblazers swept the Bengals, 25-10, 25-16, 25-16.

Kadin Warner had two kills and two digs to lead Bonanza. Moises Sandoval had six digs, and Victor Fajardo added five digs for the Bengals.

Bishop Gorman 3, Clark 0 — At Gorman, Anthony Leach notched 18 digs and three kills, and Blake Weissman had four kills, two aces and two digs as the Gaels swept the Chargers, 25-13, 25-12, 25-16.

Chris Ramirez had 15 assists and five digs, and Kizihonie Blunt supplied 10 kills and two digs for Clark, which also got nine digs from Nicko Babilonia.

Sunrise Mountain 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, the Miners swept the Jaguars, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.

Joshua Moran had 10 digs and seven blocks for the Jaguars, Heriberto Mireles had eight assists and five digs, and Leonel Rincon had five kills and three aces.
