VOLLEYBALL: Rodriguez powers Rancho by Coronado in five sets
Martin Rodriguez had 13 kills and four blocks Tuesday to lead Rancho’s boys volleyball team to a 15-25, 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 15-8 home victory over Coronado.
Douglas Candido added 27 assists and eight digs, and teammate Ryan Hafen had 14 digs and eight kills for the Rams. Henry Renta had 11 digs and two aces for Rancho.
Jon Meath led Coronado with 21 kills, 10 digs and four blocks. Samuel Cox added 59 assists and three blocks for the Cougars, and teammate Matt Johnson had 15 kills. Coronado’s Travis Little had 14 kills and 14 digs.
Arbor View 3, Valley 1 — At Arbor View, Kaneen Manuel had 18 kills and seven aces to lead the Aggies to a 22-25, 25-8, 25-21, 25-14 victory over the Vikings.
Ben Martin had 40 assists, and Michael Prescia added seven digs for Arbor View.
Marty Heavey had 18 kills, two aces and 11 digs to lead Valley.
Alex Sandoval had 27 assists, and teammate Jared Marchello notched seven kills and seven digs for the Vikings.
Clark 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Clark, Daniel Diaz-Villa had 12 kills to lead the Chargers past the Jaguars, 19-25, 25-17, 25-4, 25-21.
Henok Mucheye had nine kills, Jordan King added six kills, and Walter Regalado notched 32 assists and three aces for Clark.
Desert Pines’ Carlos Flores had six kills, and Estanisia Lansangan added five kills for the Jaguars.
Green Valley 3, Basic 1 — At Green Valley, Dustin Elliott had 11 kills and six digs to lead the Gators to a 25-14, 25-21, 22-25, 25-16 win over the Wolves.
Chase Larson added 13 kills for Green Valley.
Brad McDonald had seven kills to pace Basic. Wyatt Williams added 14 assists, and teammate Bo Peterson had 12 digs for the Wolves.
Palo Verde 3, Las Vegas 0 — At Las Vegas, Michael Simister had 14 kills and five digs, and Cole Wilson added 36 assists and eight digs to lead the Panthers to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-22 win over the Wildcats.
Tyler Klingensmith added six kills for Palo Verde.
Alli Stewart led Las Vegas with 15 kills. Antonio Wong added 11 digs, and Luis Wong had 17 assists for the Wildcats.
Bonanza 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Bonanza, Andrew Jensen had 13 kills to lead the Bengals to a 25-6, 25-11, 25-18 sweep of the Spartans.
Luis Raygoza had 32 assists and five aces, Justin Michela had four aces, and Tyler Simmons had two aces and five digs for Bonanza.
Foothill 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Ryen Feldman had nine kills, two aces and four blocks to lead the Falcons past the Sundevils, 25-20, 25-13, 27-25.
Weston Lott had seven kills and five blocks, and teammate Shilo Chow had five kills and 28 assists for the Falcons.
Dakota Shults had 16 kills to lead Eldorado.
Logan McMahill had nine digs, and Dylon Richardson posted 20 assists for the Sundevils.
Tech 3, Western 0 — At Western, Josh Wood had 20 assists and seven kills to lead the Roadrunners to a 25-19, 25-12, 25-11 sweep of the Warriors.
Bryant Pochop had nine kills, and teammate Bradon Larson supplied three aces and three kills for Tech.
William Riggs had eight assists, and Sky Tillmond notched four digs for Western.
Mojave 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Mojave, Clayton Fontano had six kills and nine aces to help the Rattlers to a 25-5, 25-8, 25-14 sweep of the Miners.
Jordan Glenn added 11 kills, and teammate Anthony Reed had 12 digs and four aces for Mojave.
Deshawn Johns had three kills and two blocks for Sunrise Mountain.
Del Sol 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Blane Quitog had 16 assists, 11 kills and five aces to lead the Dragons to a 25-12, 25-22, 25-21 win over the Grizzlies.
Jay Peete had eight digs and seven aces, and teammate La’akea Cabanas supplied seven kills and six aces for Spring Valley.
Troy Lance had seven assists and five blocks, and Stevan Paukovic added four kills for Del Sol.
Chaparral 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Jose Chavez had eight kills, and Ben Kirschbaum added seven kills to lead the Cowboys to a 25-18, 25-23, 26-24 win over the Desert Shields.
Ezequiel Borrero served five aces for Chaparral.
Alahjan Banks led Cheyenne with six kills and four aces, and teammate Jehloni Whitfield added five aces.
Centennial 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Tanner Durkin had 14 kills to help the Bulldogs to a 25-16, 25-15, 25-22 win over the Diamondbacks.
Tanner Polley added 13 kills, and teammate Grant Nelson had 20 assists and four aces for Centennial.
Desert Oasis’ Saunoa Afoa had eight kills, and Billy Cameron added five kills for the Diamondbacks.
