VOLLEYBALL: Goddard sisters help Aggies to first league title
Hannah Goddard had 16 kills, and Sarah Goddard added 14 kills Thursday to help Arbor View’s girls volleyball team win its first league title with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-14 win over visiting Bonanza in a battle of the top two teams in the Northwest League.
Jenna McClure added 32 assists and four aces, and Karli Beas had 14 digs and two aces for the Aggies.
Sophie Cram had 12 kills, and Hayley Huntsman added 19 assists for the Bengals, who got 19 digs from Claire Goodsell.
Mojave 3, Western 2 — At Western, RayEna Rael dished out 36 assists, and Sierra Cummings tallied 22 digs to help the Rattlers outlast the Warriors, 26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 19-25, 15-9.
Jazmine Harris had 19 digs, and Leilani Limtiaco supplied 10 kills for Mojave.
Destiny Gonzalez paced Western with 14 digs, 13 kills and five blocks, and teammate Ada Alfaro added 17 assists and three digs. Western also got nine kills and two digs from Capricia Pierce and three blocks from Chaya Jordan.
Cheyenne 3, Clark 2 — At Cheyenne, Esther Durr had 14 kills, three blocks and six aces to lead the Desert Shields to a 24-26, 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 15-10.
Ebony Cavaco had 21 assists, and Bria Buchanan added 14 kills and three aces for Cheyenne.
Sierra Vista 3, Spring Valley 1 — At Spring Valley, Bailey Bergquist had 20 kills and 16 digs to help the Mountain Lions to a 25-22, 21-25, 28-26, 25-16 win over the Grizzlies.
Sydney Land notched 13 kills and four blocks for Sierra Vista, and teammate Bridgette Levi added 22 digs and four aces.
Spring Valley’s Jessica Rafay had 13 kills and 19 assists, and Danielle Amonica added six kills and 14 assists. Danielle Lopez put down six kills, and Hannah Karas recorded nine digs for the Grizzlies.
Silverado 3, Liberty 1 — At Silverado, Mackenzie Carter had 21 kills and 20 digs as the Skyhawks downed the Patriots, 15-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20.
Sydney Berenyi added 13 kills and six digs, and Cyrene Solomon had 40 assists for Silverado, which got 11 digs from Emma Wenthe.
Morgan Husli had 25 assists, 10 digs and two aces, and Lisa Tauala added nine kills and 10 digs for Liberty. Erika Martinez had 33 digs and four aces, and Tiffany Watkins had eight kills, four aces and four blocks for the Patriots.
Faith Lutheran 3, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Cayla Nikodemus had 14 kills, and Jordyn Dunseath added 11 kills to lead the Crusaders to a 25-13, 25-14, 25-19 sweep of the Trojans.
Megan Kronschnabel notched 38 assists and four digs for Faith Lutheran, and teammate Haley Vinson had six kills and four blocks.
Centennial 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Kjersten Saunders had 13 digs and six kills, and Hannah Hitchcock tallied 18 assists and two aces to help the Bulldogs sweep the Diamondbacks, 25-4, 25-23, 25-11.
Deven Vieira tallied six kills and five blocks, and Kiana Falefitu added three kills and three blocks for Centennial.
Ariel Blockovich led Desert Oasis with 17 assists and 13 digs. Lauren Rios supplied five kills and four digs, and Kaia Rhodes and Cassie Chesler each had four kills for the Diamondbacks.
The Meadows 2-2, Needles 0-0 — At Needles, Calif, Missy Siegel had 20 assists, four aces and eight digs as The Meadows swept two matches from Needles, 25-11, 25-7 and 25-13, 25-10.
Brooke Brennan tallied 12 digs, six kills and five aces, and Alex Rimoldi had 11 kills and five aces for The Meadows, which also got nine digs, six kills and two aces from Dani Otter.
Calvary Chapel 3, Laughlin 0 — At Laughlin, Mariah Martin tallied 16 assists, and Alexis Harris had 11 kills to help the Lions sweep the Cougars, 25-6, 25-14, 25-14. Olivia Kaiser and Malia Lee each had four kills for Calvary Chapel.
White Pine 2-2, Agassi Prep 0-0 — At Ely, the Bobcats secured the Division III Southern League title by sweeping the Stars, 25-11, 25-13 and 25-9, 25-15.
Sandy Valley 3, Beatty 0 — At Sandy Valley, Jacinda Fansher tallied 10 aces, eight kills and two blocks, and Emily Valko supplied five kills and four aces as the Sidewinders swept the Hornets, 25-20, 25-19, 25-11.
Lauren Cripe had seven assists, and Savannah Mingo put down six kills for Sandy Valley, which also got four aces and two kills from Esmerelda Solano-Sanchez.
Indian Springs 3, Tonopah 1 — At Tonopah, the Thunderbirds beat the Muckers, 25-19, 25-13, 24-26, 25-22.
Lund 3, Round Mountain 0 — At Round Mountain, the Mustangs were 25-19, 25-14, 25-14 winners over the Knights.
