Outlook: Borrero came up just short of qualifying for state last year and is one of four returnees for the Cowboys.

“As a former Chaparral wrestler, I will be looking to rebuild the program,” Smales said. “We have 40 kids out with half of them first-year wrestlers. We’re looking to improve all season and hopefully get a few kids to state.”
