Outlook: Lara, who likely will wrestle at 285 pounds, seemed to be a lock to go to state last year, but missed out on the postseason due to injury. He’s back to lead a young team.

“We have mostly first- and second-year wrestlers who are still learning,” Lopez said. “Some of our second-year wrestlers will see some varsity time this year depending on their development throughout the season.

“We expect to develop our kids to be able to compete at a higher level towards the end of the season and moving into next season.”
