Roundup: Palo Verde edges Faith Lutheran
Joo Hwan Lee’s pinfall victory at 138 pounds clinched the Palo Verde wrestling team’s victory Tuesday, 39-36 at Faith Lutheran.
Palo Verde also received a victory by fall from Jorge Hernandez (220 pounds), and earned four victories by forfeit.
Faith Lutheran 182-pound star Connor Bourne did not compete, and the Crusaders forfeited that weight.
Gabriel Rodriguez (120) won by fall for Faith Lutheran, as did David Ruggeroli (126), Noah Vernon (132), Pierce Ellington (145), Carson Cook (152) and Leonardo Mendoza (160).
Foothill 60, Silverado 15 — At Silverado, Isaac Oliva beat Brandon Paris 5-3 in overtime at 170 pounds as the Falcons took down the Skyhawks.
Wyatt English (145 pounds) won by fall in 41 seconds for the Falcons, who also received pinfall victories from Jeremy Evans (113), Reyden Lorson (120), Cole Kazel (126), Angelito Maestas (152) and Brandon Neff (182).
D’Andre Aitala won by fall for the Skyhawks at 160 pounds.
Rancho 63, Canyon Springs 6 — At Rancho, Robert Kiffs won by fall in 12 seconds at 152 pounds to help the Rams beat the Pioneers.
Christian Packer (132), Tyler VanHoy (138), Ethan Overson (160) and Brian Rios (182) also posted first-period pins for the Rams.
Humberto Duarto also won by fall at 106 for Rancho.
Sharmell McCaleb had a first-period pin at 220 for Canyon Springs.
Liberty 51, Coronado 24 — At Liberty, Raymond Randall posted a pin in 20 seconds at 120 pounds to lead the Patriots past the Cougars.
Anthony Rivera (106), Jayden Rookhuyzen (145), Michael Lancelot (152) and Nathaniel Kendricks (182) also had pins for Liberty
Coronado’s Timothy Conaway (126), Cory Hannold (138), Morris Giacomo (160) each won by fall.
