WRESTLING: Hayden Redd’s 12-11 victory helps Moapa Valley down Eldorado

Hayden Redd won a 12-11 decision in his match at 145 pounds Saturday to help the Moapa Valley wrestling team edge Eldorado 39-33 in the Shadow Ridge Mustang Stampede.

Garrett German (120) picked up a victory by fall for Moapa Valley, which benefited from four forfeit victories.

Eldorado’s Daniel Powell (106) won his match by decision in overtime, 9-9.

Moapa Valley 48, Western 28 — At Shadow Ridge, five Pirates won by fall to help lift them over the Warriors in the Shadow Ridge Mustang Stampede.

Moapa Valley’s Will Uri had the fasted pin, winning at 152 pounds in 36 seconds.

Diego Ortega (126) and Ricardo Camacho (132) picked up victories by fall for Western.

Moapa Valley 42, Jordan (Utah) 39 —At Shadow Ridge, Jorge Cervantes won his match at 106 pounds by fall in 33 seconds to help carry the Pirates over Jordan in the Shadow Ridge Mustang Stampede.

Christian Riordan (138), Hayden Redd (145), Will Uri (152) and Trevor Van Vliet (170) all won by fall for Moapa Valley.

Jordan (Utah) 45, Moapa Valley 36 — At Shadow Ridge, Carson White picked up a 14-12 victory by decision at 120 pounds to help Jordan take down the Pirates in the Shadow Ridge Mustang Stampede.

Moapa Valley’s Garrison Draper (126) won in the final minute, pinning Nicholas Sanchez at 5:16.

Shadow Ridge 63, Moapa Valley 11 — At Shadow Ridge, the Mustangs had five wins by fall, one by major decision and one by tech to rout the Pirates in the Shadow Ridge Mustang Stampede.

Shadow Ridge’s Julian Esqueda (126) picked up a 17-2 tech at 5:01, and Cole Burleson (120) won by major decision, 13-3.

Moapa Valley had a victory by tech of its own, when Trevor Van Vliet (170) won 20-5 at 4:53.

Alta (Utah) 60, Moapa Valley 24 — John Lyon picked up a victory by fall in 23 seconds at 120 pounds to help Alta take down the Pirates in the Shadow Ridge Mustang Stampede.

Jorge Cervantes (106) picked up a win by fall for Moapa Valley in 41 seconds. Trevor Van Vliet (170) pinned his opponent in 28 seconds.
