An additional 107 coronavirus cases were reported overnight in Clark County as of Saturday morning.

According to data posted online by the Southern Nevada Health District, the total number of cases in the county is now 4,225. The county also reported that 215 people have died from the virus, which is nine more than reported Friday.

According to the health district, 2,854 people in the county have recovered from the virus, or about 67.5 percent. As of Saturday, 999 people had been hospitalized for the virus; some since have been discharged.

State data updated Saturday did not reflect additional deaths from Clark County, but it did show 84 additional cases statewide, bringing the total cases recorded by the Department of Health and Human Services to 5,311.

The state department was reporting 257 total deaths across Nevada as of Saturday evening. Data from the state and counties can differ because of different reporting cycles.

The number of statewide cases was derived from tests of 44,387 people, making the infection rate about 11.9 percent on Saturday.

That rate is likely inflated from the true infection rate, as seriously ill people and those who have been in close contact with diagnosed patients have been far more likely to be tested amid an ongoing shortage of testing supplies in the state.

Experts have predicted that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases will rise as testing becomes more widely available. Many patients with mild to moderate symptoms have previously been told to self-quarantine at home without being tested to confirm that they actually have it so as moreare tested, the number of cases is expected to rise.

In other developments Saturday:

— According to Metropolitan Police Department data last updated Thursday, there are now 22 employees within the department who have tested positive for the virus. Seven new cases were reported among department employees since late last week. As of Friday, 184 employees have been tested, nine await results and 153 tested negative.

— Washoe County reported an additional 28 cases of COVID-19, for a total of 949, and no new deaths.
