Nevada’s new opioid rules will hurt those with chronic pain
At last, a top-down approach to Nevada’s perceived need to suppress illicit drug use. Assembly Bill 474, which the Legislature passed unanimously, goes in effect in January.
Many folks will think it has no impact on them. After all, they do not use opioids. However, since the law requires twice per month visits to doctors to get prescriptions, Medicare and Medicaid can see expenses jump. The same might be true of private insurers, even those selling Medigap policies. The physical pain will be felt by those whose pain is chronic.
Now that many grannies may well have to go to the streets for adequate drugs to control their pain, maybe Visiting Angels should consider establishing a new wing.
