Desert Oasis, Cimarron stay alive in Legion state tournament

Tyler Burdett tossed a five-hit shutout to help the Las Vegas Aces of Desert Oasis High roll to a 4-0 win over Centennial in a losers’ bracket game of the American Legion state tournament Wednesday at UNLV’s Wilson Stadium.

The Aces advance to play unbeaten Liberty in a semifinal game today at 8 p.m.

In a second losers’ bracket game, Ryan McHale went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs to help lift Cimarron-Memorial to an eight-inning 13-3 victory over Reno.

Cimarron advances to today’s 5 p.m. semifinal game against undefeated Bishop Gorman.
