Games on TV and where’s Wink?

Must See TV?

All the NBA Summer League games can be watched on the Internet. But a handful of teams have brought their own TV crews to televise their games back home.

The Knicks and Trail Blazers have been televising their games this week. Today, Walt Frazier, the Hall of Famer and Knick legend, was swishin’ and dishin’ on the MSG Network as the Knicks and Bulls were meeting in Cox Pavilion.

Portland’s games are being televised on Comcast back in Oregon. Mike Price, who was doing Blazers TV back when I was covering the team in Salem, Ore., 22 years ago, was in town working as the analyst.

Of course, what would a telecast be without the obligatory eye candy, oops, sideline reporter. Both teams have hot-looking women saying God knows what in an attempt to add something to the telecast. Guess it must a slow time of the year.

Collison hurt

Over at the Thomas & Mack, New Orleans rookie guard Darren Collison sprained his left ankle in the second quarter of the Hornets’ game with Minnesota and hobbled off to the locker room. The injury was not considered serious, but he was held out the rest of the way as a precaution.

Durant in town

USA Basketball’s minicamp in still a few days away, but Kevin Durant was present and accounted for today as he watched the Thunder lose to Dallas. Durant said he’s ready to go and excited about having the potential opportunity to play for Mike Krzyzewski, who has agreed to a second tour of duty and will officially be announced Tuesday as Team USA’s coach for the 2012 Olympics.

CD’d Again

Poor Wink Adams. The guy can’t get any love from Knicks summer league coach Phil Weber. He once again got the DNP-CD treatment in the Knicks’ 90-84 loss to Chicago. Translated, that means “Did Not Play, Coaches’ Decision.” In four games, the former UNLV guard has played a grand total of seven minutes. A few UNLV fans chanted “We Want Wink” but their pleas fell upon deaf ears across the way. Adams remained glued to the Knicks’ bench.

Blake Griffin coming up

The Clippers are next up in the Thomas & Mack as they face Washington at 5:30 p.m. Blake Griffin has played extremely well in three games so far and he is in the mix for summer league MVP honors. We’ll keep you posted on his progress.
