Here’s what to expect on Day 1 of NBA Summer League in Las Vegas

The first day of the 2016 NBA Summer League will feature six games in total — three in the Thomas & Mack Center and three in the adjacent Cox Pavilion.

Last year, the 2015 summer league saw a record 99,437 attendees, which was an average of 9,040 per session. Look for similar numbers this time around.

For the first time, ESPN will be televising games from Las Vegas.

GAME OF THE DAY

Los Angeles Lakers vs. New Orleans Pelicans — The Lakers will have a pair of No. 2 overall picks in this game, as D’Angelo Russell is returning to the NBA Summer League to team up with former Duke standout Brandon Ingram. The two will meet the 2016 Naismith College Player of the Year in Buddy Hield, who was selected sixth overall by the Pelicans this year.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

* Dave Joerger, who was hired as head coach of the Sacramento Kings on May 9, will be leading the team in the summer league starting Friday. The Kings will meet Toronto at 7 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion.

* Gary Payton II, a Spring Valley High School alum, will presumably suit up for the Houston Rockets, when they meet the Atlanta Hawks at 5 p.m.

* Kay Felder, who played three seasons at Oakland, is a 5-foot-9-inch guard who surely will deliver some exciting moments for the Cleveland Cavaliers in this year’s summer league.

* The high-flying Derrick Jones, who went undrafted after leaving UNLV after one season, will suit up for the Sacramento Kings.

* Rashad Vaughn, who attended Findlay Prep and UNLV, will play for the Milwaukee Bucks for the second year in a row.
