Knicks overcome huge game by Monroe
The New York Knicks opened Day 8 of action at the NBA Vegas Summer League with a 92-80 victory over Detroit at Cox Pavilion, but Greg Monroe of the Pistons was the real story.
The No. 7 pick from last month’s draft has struggled for the most part this week, but after breaking out with 20 points in Detroit’s last game, Monroe erupted for 27 points and 14 rebounds today.
Former Kansas State guard Bill Walker paced the Knicks with 19 points in the win.
That’s so ridiculous
The Review-Journal’s outstanding sports columnist is back from vacation and taking in this year’s summer league for the first time today.
He is befuddled by so many facets of the Rondell Sheridan situation.
Sheridan is an actor and comedian, best known for his role on the Disney Channel show, “That’s so Raven.”
We have mentioned several times this week that he is sitting in the front row watching most of the games.
He is here again and Graney can’t get enough of it.
His first question, which was very legitimate, was “How do you know that?”
Fair enough.
“Why is he here all the time?”
That’s easier to answer. Who doesn’t want to spend all their free time at the summer league?
It’s been mostly occasional glances accompanied by head-shaking disapproval since then.
Standing out
Former NBA star Robert Horry is in attendance today, the first time he’s been spotted here this week.
The seven-time NBA champion is hard to miss.
As if the 6-foot-10 Horry wasn’t recognizable enough, he’s sporting a bright pink shirt.
