The first game of the fourth day of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas is in the books, as the Los Angeles Lakers fell 71-63 to the New York Knicks at Cox Pavilion on Monday.

The Lakers dropped to 0-3 at the event.

After starring in L.A.’s first two games, second-round draft choices Devin Ebanks and Derrick Caracter had mixed results Monday. Ebanks scored seven points on 2-for-13 shooting. Caracter tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds in 29-plus minutes, but also picked up eight fouls.

D.J. Strawberry scored 12 points and Courtney Sims added 11 for the Lakers.

The Lakers were held to eight points in the second quarter.

Landry Fields led New York with 17 points, and teammate Bill Walker scored 14.

Patrick Ewing, now an assistant coach with the Orlando Magic, was courtside with former Georgetown coach John Thompson to watch his son, Patrick Ewing Jr., contribute six points and four rebounds for the Knicks.

New York coach Mike D’Antoni also was in the building.
