2 High Standards – Tiny edge in a very difficult opener; ran well in return off a 7-month hiatus, switch to Joel Rosario.

Long Shot – 1 Justice Reigns
Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $54,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds
2 Chico d’Oro – Epitome of a horse that is the one to beat; the edge you’ll have is seeing the action on the many FTS.
1 Purely Awesome – Leap of faith that this Kathy Walsh baby will improve a lot in second start; sure to get overlooked.
Long Shot – 6 Dubber
Race 3 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds
1 Classy Lion – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; third start off an 8-month hiatus.

Long Shot – 8 Honor Among Us
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles, $250,000 Santa Anita Oaks, Fillies, 3-year-olds
3 Turbulent Descent – One loss and pundits are ready to pan this filly; she’ll be tighter and can make amends on Zazu.
2 Zazu – Surprised she is not the morning-line favorite off a win in the Las Virgenes; quality filly is getting better.
Long Shot – 1 May Day Rose
Race 5 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf), $75,000 Clocker’s Corner Handicap, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
8 Unzip Me – This hillside course specialist has been pointed for this spot; Well Deserved is her main foe early on.
7 Reba Is Tops – Another who loves the hillside turf course; she has a powerful late kick, will sit and make one run.
Long Shot – 9 Broken Dreams
Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
12 Lutess – Don’t typically like a maiden grad facing winners for the first time; this is a bad field, she may just be better.
7 L’Enchanteresse – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career-low level; no one in this field likes to win races.
Long Shot – 11 Imperatriz
Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf), Purse $30,000, Claiming $25,000, 4-year-olds and up

Long Shot – 7 Leandros
Race 8 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $54,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds
4 Oh My Honor – FTS has bullet works and appears ready to fire; you’ll see the tote action long after I’m in print.
3 Liberal Arts – I guarantee he faced tougher at Del Mar than he does tonight; troubled second in a good debut.
Long Shot – 6 Tiz a Budman
Race 9 – 1 mile (turf), $300,000 Frank Kilroe Mile, 4-year-olds and up
9 Jeranimo – Beaten favorite in the Sunshine Millions Turf; likely bounce off a big San Gabriel win, can rebound here.
4 Caracortado – Logical chalk went from overlooked to now overhyped; this by far will be his toughest test for class.
Long Shot – 2 Fluke
Race 10 – 1 1/4 miles, $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap, 4-year-olds and up
5 Twirling Candy – He’s one horse who is much better on dirt than synthetics; has shown the ability to rate this year.
8 First Dude – Bob Baffert has four in here, this guy is clearly his strongest card; his best is good enough to upset.
Long Shot – 3 Gladding
Race 11 – 1 mile (turf), Purse $56,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up
5 Excelling – Like the trainer switch to the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer; colt has lots of room for improvement.
