Today at Del Mar

Post Time 2:05 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 furlongs, Purse $28,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies, 3-year-olds

7 Hidden Passion – Taking a huge class drop to cash in before the end of Del Mar; you’ll see a lot of drop downs this final week.

4 Dynamic Diva – Like last out winners that ran a much slower Beyer speed figure; suspect she can run a faster race today at odds.

Long Shot – 5 Star Vesta

Race 2 – 1 1/6th miles, Purse $20,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up

4 Streets of Heaven – Has not run well at Del Mar, but that can help the price; third start off a 14-month hiatus.

12 Low Gear Power – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low class; has won 3-of-10 over this Del Mar synthetics.

Long Shot – 8 Nonsense

Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds

1 A Toe by Three – Speed and the rail are always dangerous; subtle class drop can only help under Corey Nakatani.

5 Hadfunlastnight – Tepid favorite ran out of his mind in winning last time; a repeat race beats these, but he’s a bounce candidate.

Long Shot – 8 Champions Gate

Race 4 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $70,000, Maiden special weight, 2-year-olds

2 Quietasacat – FTS been working up a storm for Carla Gaines; she gains an edge in hiring champion rider Rafael Bejarano.

4 Tancred – Bob Baffert FTS all work fast for their debuts; you’re edge is you’ll see the tote board action.

Long Shot – 1 Sacred Ovation

Race 5 – 1 mile, $100,000 Torrey Pines, Fillies, 3-year-olds

1 Potesta – Notice how Mike Mitchell gave her time after a taxing win in the Hollywood Oaks; that can take a lot out of a filly.

5 Starlight Magic – Won the Fleet Treat in slow time last out; she chased Potesta to no avail in the Hollywood Oaks.

Long Shot – 8 Killer Graces

Race 6 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

10 Procurement – Tom Proctor has had a sensational meet with a small barn; should improve a lot in his second career start.

3 Storm Power – FTS from Tim Yakteen has been working well; barn not really known for popping with babies, but the clockers have eyes.

Long Shot – 6 Say Ow

Race 7 – 1 mile, $85,000 Adoration, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds

3 Briecat – Tepid chalk has good tactical speed to lead or follow close up; Victor Espinoza has been hot this final week.

2 Cathy’s Crunches – Interesting NoCal shipper may sneak off at a price; having Joe Talamo ride is a big improvement.

Long Shot – 7 Miss Mittagong

Race 8 – 1 mile, Purse $70,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

2 Sheaparoux – Second time out for Mike Mitchell; note the name is a mix of his daughter Shea and her fiance jockey Julien Leparoux.

1 Scarlet Strike – Showed big improvement second time out; should save all the ground inside under Mike Smith.

Long Shot – 9 Vixen

Race 9 – 1 1/8th miles (turf), $300,000 Del Mar Derby, 3-year-olds

3 Brother Francis – Won his MSW as easily as possible; connections have always like this colt, now tries a graded stakes again.

10 Howe Great – Eastern shipper got not favors with a parking lot post; still this is a very talented colt who must be respected.

Long Shot – 7 Midnight Crooner

Race 10 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $71,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

6 Megastar – Ron Ellis hasn’t started many, but they all seem live; class drop can only help his chances.

11 Oilisblackgold – Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; suspect a potential cavalry charge to the wire in a blanket finish.

Long Shot – 12 Dreamcatcher

Race 11 – 1 mile (turf), Purse $70,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

10 Attigirl Meadow – Poor start last time first out with blinkers on; key was she was finishing fastest of all.

2 Three Blondes – Rafael Bejarano has the option of sending or sitting on this filly; tiny edge in a tight fit.

Long Shot – 5 Miss Well Molded

Best Bet – 2 Sheaparoux (race 8)
