Horse Racing, Hollywood Park, April 29
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds
4 Lovmeister – Walther Solis is adept at winning these abbreviated baby races; you can tell a lot by the speed pedigrees.
2 Bodaway – Adam Kitchingman is another trainer who wins his share of baby races; Suances is a proven speed sire too.
Long Shot – 7 Decent Dude
Race 2 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $54,000, Optional claiming 425,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
6 Unusual Hottie – Has run two good turf races and she is an Unusual Heat; Cal-bred miss is moving up thru her conditions.
7 Sunburn – Draw a line thru the Irish O’Brien debacle; the race came off the grass and she floundered badly in the slop.
Long Shot – 5 Donner Wasser
Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $37,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds
7 J J’s Jaguar – Among 4 who graduated last time out; won easily for Jeff Mullins, but got claimed by the clever John Sadler.
3 Teasing Bernie – Dead late closer will pick up the pieces late; Beat Run for Miles in last who is in today’s field.
Long Shot – 6 Grumpy Small Mouth
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $57,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up
3 Tweebster – Bob Baffert continues his SoCal hot streak; this 5-YO is his second or third string, but still very productive.
6 Anthony’s Cross – Ran like a short horse in last off a 11-month hiatus; figures to be a lot sharper for second comeback race.
Long Shot – 2 Classic Legacy
Race 5 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
9 Sequoia Warrior – Ran a memorable second in his SoCal debut; ran fast enough to win an allowance race, yet could not graduate.
1 One World – FTS from John Shirreffs for the Mosses; he has been working faster than the norm for this patient barn.
Long Shot – 10 His Royal Highness
Race 6 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $46,000, Claiming $50,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Linda Lou – Lost a nostril in last to Missdealornodeal; tough post in this turf sprint, but I think she is moving forward in form.
3 Talktoomuch – Claimed by Kristen Mulhall off of Mike Mitchell; hard to figure how one improves a racehorse off of Mitchell.
Long Shot – 1 Fifth Commandment
Race 7 – 7 furlongs, Purse $24,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up
9 Imperial Pride – I’m a forgiving handicapper so you need to draw a line thru his last turf race; the ones before are OK.
5 Star Nicholas – Is a dead late closer who runs his race no matter what the pace; class drop can only aid his chances.
Long Shot – 10 My Man Sumo
Race 8 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), $100,000 Wilshire Handicap, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Nereid – She showed last year she’ll be a force in the filly and mare turf division; start of what should be a fine campaign.
7 Up In Time – Rebounded with a strong second after two putrid tries; she may be back in form over a turf course she likes.
Long Shot – 8 Go Forth North
Race 9 – 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Nifty Dream – If you are live in the pick 6, I hope you are spread in this last leg; tiny edge in a wide open affair.
2 running Isabella – Been away 9-months, returns in the Ron Ellis barn; has had a long sequence of works for comeback.
Long Shot – 9 Red Intrigue
Best Bet – 7 J J’s Jaguar (race 3)
Betfair Hollywood Park Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/2/$9.60; Long Shots, 10/2/$17.20; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #11 Dylan Dangerous (7/2) in race 2 at Belmont Park. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Walker’s Landing ran out at Keeneland. Stats – 67/46/$400.30; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
