Horse Racing, Hollywood Park, June 29
Today at Hollywood Park
Post Time 7:05 p.m.
Race 1 – 7 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Memo to Kathy – Gutsy win last time over a nondescript field; this field is nondescript too, so she could repeat.
4 Indy Beauty – Good try first off the claim by Jack Carava; can sit a trip and grind it out late.
Long Shot – 1 Lisa Lulu
Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $29,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
7 Pork Chop – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; is switching from turf to synthetics.
1 Awesome Year – Showed good improvement last time in his second career start; never hurts to have Rafael Bejarano riding.
Long Shot – 5 Bev N Bud
Race 3 – 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
8 I Feel Free – Doug O’Neill is hanging the for sale sign in search of victory; would trade a nice win for losing the horse.
3 A. P. Corsair – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; did run for a price tag before though.
Long Shot – 1 Outta Splash
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $26,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
7 Morganouska – Has won twice in a row, then got claimed by Terry Knight; he is a solid, underrated trainer so expect a good run.
1 Megaride – Like when horses win and run a slower Beyer speed figure; upset chance can save ground from the rail.
Long Shot – 6 Ziggy’s Stardust
Race 5 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 Attigirl Meadow – Was compromised early on in last when pinched back at the start; suspect will sit a trip and come flying late.
7 Passionville – Huge rider switch to Rafael Bejarano for the money shot; has been left with too much to do late.
Long Shot – 9 Appetizing
Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Carrie Rose – I believe in karma; with Mike Mitchell in surgery today, one thing that can boost his spirits is an upset win.
2 This Means War – Logical chalk has run two good races in her career; exits a bullet work and figures to be tough to beat.
Long Shot – 7 Roar Baby Roar
Race 7 – 1 3/16th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
6 Seeking Solace – Didn’t get the best of trip last time; he has a lot of back class and the Ron Ellis barn is very live right now.
2 Imponente Purse – Favored due to a serious drop in class; he hasn’t run a good race in a while, but he is definitely capable.
Long Shot – 5 Isle of Prado
Race 8 – 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
11 Et Tu Walker – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; like the parking lot post in an elongated sprint.
1 Visionary Man – Another taking a huge class drop to face an easier task; Rafael Bejarano won 5 on Thursday, expect more of that.
Long Shot – 3 Sidepocket Kid
Best Bet – 8 I Feel Free (race 3)
Betfair Hollywood Park Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/6/$29.80; Long Shots, 7/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.80
Betfair Hollywood Park Totals – 636/167/$1,061.00; Long Shots, 319/48/$483.80; Best Bets, 33/12/$48.40
SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #7 Wildie (8/5) in race 2 at Churchill Downs. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Thursday, Anna Sophia won at Belmont Park paying $5.70 to win, $3.30 to place and $2.80 to show. Stats – 98/67/$553.30; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
