Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, June 11
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
4 K Thirty Eight – Winning a second career start in last is a big experience edge; beat restricted but did it the right way.
1 Micks Miracle – The time off after a sharp MSW win is not typically a good sign; regardless Philip D’Amato barn is very well respected.
Long Shot – 3 Stringent
Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Q’ Viva – Going down the hill I prefer the parking lot posts versus the rail posts; this filly has been second five time in six starts.
3 Cindys Secret – Has a lot of early speed, which should be helped by the turf rail out 30 feet; expect Kent Desormeaux to send early.
Long Shot – 6 Silver Mojave
Race 3 – 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
6 Rich Girl – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; Rafael Bejarano has been riding for Vann Belvoir.
1 Acute Fever – This FTS drew the advantageous rail in an abbreviated sprint; expect Tyler Baze to send hard from the inside.
Long Shot – 7 Grape Fizz
Race 4 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $25,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 An Unusual Group – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low level; her race two back is fast enough to beat these.
10 Ameliatheaviator – She must draw in off the also eligible; Mike Smith is named and the drop of class points to a live rocket.
Long Shot – 8 Carrick Bay
Race 5 – 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, 2-year-olds
8 Schillairess – FTS from the John Brocklebank barn; they have a steady diet of works and at Dixie Downs.
7 Frac Candy – FTS from the Keith Desormeaux barn; like it when his brother Kent Desormeaux is riding, ready to fire best bullet.
Long Shot – 5 Star Express
Race 6 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Rattataptap – Tries turf for the first time; has plenty of back class and a favorable parking lot post for trainer Phil D’Amato.
4 Baruta – With the turf rail out 30 feet, this potential lone early speed could grow legs; Flavien Prat plays catch me if you can.
Long Shot – 1 Maibaby
Race 7 – 1 mile, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
4 Bipartisan – Rafael Bejarano and trainer Richard Baltas have been the hottest tandem going; big class drop offers a must beat horse.
3 American Act – Has lots of natural early speed; Kent Desormeaux has the option to lead or stalk depending on the race shape.
Long Shot – 5 Macho Sox
Race 8 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Charming Starlet –
3 Bilger’s Sapphire – I like playing horses with a DNF of some kind; especially if a live jockey gets on like Drayden Van Dyke.
Long Shot – 1 Princess Ashlyn
