The Angels need to get the series opener with Jered Weaver on the mound, and he beat Texas twice in late July. Weaver (17-4, 2.74 ERA) is 9-2 with a 2.40 ERA and 0.79 WHIP at home. The Rangers start Ryan Dempster, who was rocked for eight runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Angels on Aug. 2.
