Today at Santa Anita, June 27
Post Time 3 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Tiz Midnight – Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry so caveat emptor; his barn makes up 40 percent of this lacklustre field.
5 Little Miss S – This is the other Baffert; was hammered down in debut to 4/5 odds and barely ran a step, now stretches out.
Long Shot – 2 Iconic Spirit
Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $40,000, Claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
7 He’s a Dance Star – Richard Baltas barn is concluding an amazing Santa Anita meet; this one loves the hill and has a parking lot post.
4 Great Friends Rule – Like when Bill Spawr claims a horse, takes his time, then aggressively bumps up in class; doesn’t miss too often.
Long Shot – 3 Zimmer
Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Sweetrayofsunshine – Bill Spawr has a chance to complete the daily double here; mare has done nothing been win money since claimed.
2 Buckingham Bull – Rugged foe clearly fits at this class level; has tactical speed to lead or follow close up.
Long Shot – 1 Silver Hustler
Race 4 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $56,000, 2-year-olds
7 Sky Preacher – With two good races under his belt, he tries a route and turf for the first time; one to beat in a wide open affair.
5 Delaney’s Joy – A FTS with decent looking turf pedigree for Doug O’Neill; your edge is you will see all of the tote board action.
Long Shot – 6 Nakamoto
Race 5 – 5 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds
4 Lucky Logan – There are some difficult races on this card; take a stab at Peter Miller chalk, was 4/5 price in career debut.
9 London Legacy – Showed good early lick before stopping to a walk late; these babies have every right to improve race to race.
Long Shot – 3 Zinvor
Race 6 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
6 Kukaluka – This card seems to get harder and harder as I go along; this filly can provide a small upset from the Peter Miller barn.
8 Market Quote – Tepid chalk comes off the shelf since last seen at Del Mar; hard to tell how wound tight mare is for this return.
Long Shot – 9 Highly Rated
Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Claiming $20,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
5 Doctor Glynis – Like the subtle class drop from this Steve Miyadi charge; blinkers off, this barn is known to cash a ticket or two.
6 Time for Angie – Logical chalk was claimed after a good second; is spotted correctly to win right off the bat.
Long Shot – 1 Larocco
Race 8 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
3 Storm the Channel – Has run two good seconds and is now a juicy 6/1 morning line; no shock if Doug O’Neill barn upsets the finale.
7 Clickjab – Logical chalk was running well late in career debut; now stretching out in distance, has the pedigree for 2-turns and turf.
Long Shot – 6 Larry Birdstone
Best Bet – 4 Tiz Midnight (race 1)
Santa Anita Park Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/4/$17.80; Long Shots, 7/2/$29.00; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.80
