Medina hands Love first defeat

Rogelio Medina (33-6, 27 knockouts) stunned J’Leon Love (18-1, 10 KOs) with a left hook, forcing referee Tony Weeks to call a halt at 39 seconds of the third round in the main event of their super middleweight bout Saturday at the Palms.

In other fights on the card, Badou Jack controlled Jason Escalera to secure a unanimous decision in a 10-round super middleweight bout.

Ronald Gavril knocked down Thomas Falowo, and referee Robert Byrd stopped the fight at 2:14 of the seventh round to win a super middleweight bout.

Andrew Tabiti scored a third-round TKO over Eric Carson to improve to 7-0 in a cruiserweight bout.

Luis Arias, Ashley Theophane, Lanell Bellows and Ladarius Miller sealed unanimous-decision victories, and Cortez Bey defeated Jacinto Quintana by split decision.
