FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD — Anglers looking to reel in a mess of stripers will find success for school-size fish in the Vegas Bay arm from Gypsum Wash to Boxcar Cove. Kingman Wash also has been producing nice catches.

Fishing along the beaches and near Hemenway continues to be slow.

LAKE MOHAVE — PowerBait in colors from orange to rainbow and Zeke’s Sierra Gold have been taking rainbow trout at Willow Beach. Anglers have had some success with a variety of hardware as well, including Jake’s Lures, Super Dupers, Panther Martins and other spinners.

Shore fishermen and boaters alike were successful. Striper anglers were successful using lures that resembled small rainbow trout in the 3- to 4-inch range.

Anglers fishing out of Cottonwood Cove have been finding fair to good striper success with prepared bait in the coves north of the marina. Both stripers and catfish are averaging up to 20 inches in length. Most fish are being caught in the early-morning and late-evening hours. Blue gill are plentiful.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — No current report. Catfish will be stocked in mid-September.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Fishing has been slow, though some anglers have been catching rainbow trout when fishing early in the morning or late in the evening after daytime temperatures cool down.

Still fishing with PowerBait or worms should net anglers some catches.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — In recent weeks, low water and high temperatures, coupled with weed growth, have resulted in slow fishing. Action should pick up as daytime temperatures begin to drop. Meanwhile persistent anglers might find some success.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — Trout anglers have been battling weed growth along the dams at Haymeadow, Cold Springs and Adams-McGill reservoirs. However, anglers can still catch fish through patches of open water.

Those fishing for bass can find success by working open areas among the weeds.
