Nevada resident sues Seahawks over ticket policy

John E. Williams lives in Nevada. And that was a problem for Williams, who wanted to attend the NFC Championship Game in Seattle.

He sued several parties in federal court in Las Vegas on April 15, including the Seattle Seahawks and Ticketmaster, because the Seahawks refused to sell tickets to the Jan. 16 game to anyone outside the states of Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Alaska and Hawaii and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.

The NFC West team tried to limit the number of 49ers fans at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field.

Williams’ lawsuit argued the Seahawks’ ticket-selling approach was a “discriminatory practice (that) violates federal laws regarding public accommodation …” He has requested a tidy punitive damage sum of $40 million.
