Hot-hitting d’Arnaud homers again in 51s’ 7-1 win

Travis d’Arnaud hit his fourth home run in six games to power the 51s to a 7-1 Pacific Coast League victory over the RedHawks on Saturday night in Oklahoma City.

D’Arnaud, demoted June 7 to Las Vegas by the New York Mets after hitting .180 for the parent club, hit a two-out, two-run homer in the third inning to give the 51s a 2-1 lead. He went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs and is hitting .417 in 24 at-bats with Pacific South Division-leading Las Vegas (40-29).

Darin Gorski (1-1) and Ryan Reid shut out Oklahoma City (37-33) for 8 1/3 innings, after Domingo Santana homered with two out in the bottom of the first. Gorski replaced starter Rafael Montero after one-third of an inning and pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing five hits, four walks and the one run. Reid gave up three hits in two innings.

Montero, making his third start with the 51s after being sent down by the Mets, left after throwing five pitches. A New York team official said the right-hander suffered an injury to his left side.

The teams meet at 4:05 p.m. today in the third game of the four-game series.
