Las Vegas Lights FC announce inaugural season schedule

Updated January 19, 2018 - 3:46 pm

Las Vegas Lights FC owner Brett Lashbrook wants his fans conditioned to think that 8 p.m. Saturday is soccer time in Las Vegas.

His team’s inaugural regular-season United Soccer League schedule should help with that. Thirteen of the Lights’ 17 regular-season home matches at Cashman Field will begin at 8 p.m. on a Saturday, according to the schedule released by the team Friday.

The Lights also will host games two Wednesdays, a Friday and a Sunday. Its 34-game season will open March 17 at Fresno FC and close Oct. 13 at Sacramento Republic.

“All along, we’ve promised a soccer party in Downtown Las Vegas, and now with the dates and times unveiled, no one should have an excuse not to come down to Cashman Field and give at least one Lights FC home match a chance,” Lashbrook said in a statement.

The Lights will play a home and away game with 14 of the 17 teams in the USL’s Western Conference and three games with two: Phoenix Rising FC and Reno 1868 FC. The team hosts Phoenix twice and travels twice to Reno.

The team’s inaugural schedule carried an extra complication because the team will share Cashman Field with the Las Vegas 51s in 2018, but the two teams never play home games on back-to-back days this year. There are two times the teams host games a day apart: on May 3 (51s vs. Sacramento) and 5 (Lights vs. Tulsa) and on Aug. 23 (51s vs. Salt Lake) and 25 (Lights vs Fresno).

Season tickets for the Lights start at $200 and can be purchased at LightsFC.com/tickets. The team also has single-game tickets available starting at $15 for its three exhibition games and its home opener against Reno.
