UFC standout Carwin injured, will miss bout against Nelson
The rash of injuries in the Ultimate Fighting Championship continued, with two more stars forced off upcoming cards.
Heavyweight Shane Carwin injured his knee and will miss his Dec. 15 bout against Las Vegan Roy Nelson, his rival coach on the current season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
UFC officials on Wednesday announced a search for a new opponent to face Nelson in what was to be the main event of a card at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Lightweight contender Gray Maynard also suffered a knee injury and was scrapped from a meeting with Joe Lauzon at UFC 155 on Dec. 29 at the MGM Grand. Jim Miller agreed to step in to replace Maynard.
