IN CHINA, THERE’S MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PRACTICE PERSONAL HYGIENE

Give the Chinese credit. They think of everything.

When using the bathroom at Capital Indoor Stadium (where Olympic volleyball is being staged), you are greeted with a sign above the sink.

It lists the six best ways (diagrams included) to wash one’s hands:

1. Palm to palm.

2. Right palm over left dorsum and left palm over right dorsum, fingers interlaced.

3. Palm to palm, fingers interlaced.

4. Rotational rubbing of right thumb clasped over left palm and vice-versa.

5. Rotational rubbing backward and forward with knuckles of right hand in palm of left, and vice-versa.

6. Rubbing of right wrist over left palm, and vice-versa.

Thankfully, the sign also mentions little things such as soap and water, and how it’s important to rub your hands together vigorously until lather appears, continuing for at least six seconds.

The best part: After cursing yourself for not earning an engineering degree in college so you would one day know how to rinse yourself, the only available thing to dry your hands with afterward is toilet paper.

I can’t worry about that right now. My dorsum needs cleaning.
