Today at Santa Anita Park, April 3
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
3 Swan Street Lady – Been a while since I seen a race this slow at Santa Anita; Bobby Wayne Grayson barn can pop a FTS.
2 Indian Fields – A morning line favorite at Santa Anita ran a 0 Beyer speed rating; what does that tell you about the remainder.
Long Shot – 4 La Quillotana
Race 2 – 7 furlongs, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
2 Vicki Victoria – Richard Baltas barn has had some good moments this meet; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip throughout.
3 Sweetrayofsunshine – Morning line favorite is claim proof in this spot for Bill Spawr; has not raced in 11-months.
Long Shot – 4 Clearly Confused
Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $60,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
2 Tiz Molly – Has had a lot of gaps in her brief resume; she has ability but can’t stay on the racetrack consistently.
6 Caraquista – Edwin Maldonado had choices and opted for this Jeff Bonde filly; don’t mind a parking lot post to stalk from. Shot – 5 Our Pure Creation
Race 4 – 7 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up
7 Mavericks Gun – Has had the audacity to face winners twice while still a maiden; dropping to the lowest class of his life.
4 Take a Risk – Ran a career best in last when dropped down to this $20K price tag; will not find a slower group for this class.
Long Shot – 5 Goyan
Race 5 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $25,000, Starter handicap $12,500, 4-year-olds and up
8 Macias – Was meant for better a long time ago; has won twice for Robertino Diodoro and is protected this afternoon.
5 Nahem – Claimed by the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer off a gutsy win; returns to Santa Anita where he has success in the past.
Long Shot – 1 Bobby Flay
Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $21,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
1 Rossi Reserve – Old timer has run some good ones but can be camera shy; like the rail post to save every inch of ground.
8 Mahalo Princess – Claimed by Joshua Litt and brought south to SoCal; has run well in limited dirt experience.
Long Shot – 9 Zees Chris
Race 7 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $58,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
3 Ginger Tap – Third start off a 6-month hiatus; in my eyes is ready to move forward with a much improved effort.
5 Scooter Bird – If the race falls apart, this filly will be moving fastest of all late; big rider switch to Mike Smith.
Long Shot – 6 Passionate Diva
Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Gouyen – Have liked playing Joe Talamo in the day’s finale; this one has tactical speed to protect her inside position.
12 Shakeitupbetty – Second best in last in a good effort; don’t mind the parking lot post because most inside of her can’t run.
Long Shot – 6 Runningwiththelute
Best Bet – 7 Mavericks Gun (race 4)
